Firefighter Brought To Tears After Man's Bible Survives House Fire: 'It Was a Miracle'

After an Alabama housefire, everything was destroyed in one family's home. Everything except the Bible of the family.
It was the only item that survived the house fire that took down the home of Scot Byrd in Bon Secour, Alabama.
The event happened on January 8 when Byrd, his wife, and his two daughters were out of the house. Byrd and his wife were at church while Shelby and Ashton were attending a birthday party. They did not expect to come home later that day and find everything burned and down to the ground.
After the accident, the whole family was left homeless with all of their items destroyed in the fire. All items but grandfather's old bible. The book was completely whole and untouched which to the family was a sign from God that everything will work out just fine for them.

“The fireman actually came out with tears in his eyes and he said, ‘you’re not going to believe this, you’ve gotta come see it for yourself,'”
The house fire was an event in the lives of the Byrd family that was preceded by another misfortune. In 2014, Shelby was diagnosed with leukemia. While she was not expected to live, her cancer is currently in remission.
Since the disaster, the family lives in temporary housing until they can rebuild their home. Even though the circumstances, they are lucky to have the support of their community. They are grateful for all the help that they have received from members of their town in making it through the tough times.
After battling cancer, Shelby and her sister have a different perspective on the ups and downs of life than many other children. They are coping fine and enjoying the inflow of new toys and clothes.
