If you were lucky enough to catch any coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics, then you have probably heard of this rising figure skating star.

Last February, Mirai Nagasu became the very first American woman in figure skating history to land the extremely difficult triple axel while in an official competition. The stunning moment came during the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Although Nagasu has bragging rights among American competitors, the only other two women over time to land this risky jump were also of Japanese descent. Mirai said that she was so happy to make her country proud.

Photographers were able to capture every second of this jump from beginning to end. Looking at the photos in succession make it clear how challenging this trick truly is.

The best picture shows the look of Mirai's face when she realizes that she landed the jump with ease, making history and allowing her to reach her goals.

Mirai's coach, Tom Zakrajsek, said that the graceful skater had been practising that particular move for four years. This is clearly an example of how practice makes perfect! At only 24 years old, it is obvious that Mirai has an impressive career still ahead of her.

We can't wait to cheer her on as she tackles even more challenges on the ice!

If you did not get a chance to watch this stunning performance, be sure to check out the pictures and the video. After you get a chance to see Mirai in action, be sure to spread this accomplishment to everyone that you know.
