As told by WMUR-TV, one student, Delanie Marcotte, knows the pain of bullying all too well. Instead of having the luxury of going to school, enjoying being a kid, and having fun with her friends, Delanie dreaded going to class every day because she was a victim of her classmates' bullying.

Delanie's classmates subjected her to physical and verbal abuse to the point that her parents tried to get the school district to step in. However, the district took little action.

In July of 2018, Delanie's parents knew it was time to address the school district at their board meeting. They were fed up with the bullying and wanted to inspire their community leaders to get involved.

By speaking up about Delanie's story, the Marcottes hoped things would change for their daughter and other students that were also victims of bullying.

This brave fifth grader then went on to take her seat before the school board, ready to share her heartbreaking story with the grown men and women in the audience.

Delanie took her dad's place and read the statement. By the time she was done, the room was completely silent. Her powerful words certainly didn't fall on deaf ears. The video of Delanie speaking spread across the Internet and has been shared by hundreds of thousands of people.

The gripping statement recounted the disturbing threats and abuse Delanie suffered at the hands of her classmates. Delanie's parents did the right thing. Children like Delanie should never fear to go to school and should never be subjected to such abuse.
