Female High School Quarterback Makes Washington School's History And Advocates To Others To ‘Play Your Sport’

Girls can do anything boys can do, that's a message high school varsity quarterback Brynna Nixon of Fife, Washington wants the world to know.

According to Q13 News, The female backup quarterback for the Trojans of Fife High School recently made her debut on the football field when the starting quarterback was injured during a game.

Brynna, a junior at Fife High School, was more than prepared when she was called upon. Not only did she fill in for the starting quarterback, she also led the team in a remarkable scoring drive which resulted in a touchdown.

The Trojans were facing Clover Park, one of their rivals. The touchdown pass by Brynna made history, making it the first time a female quarterback has led a scoring drive during a playoff varsity football game.

Head coach Kent Nevin expressed his excitement at seeing Brynna dominate the field. He told King 5 News members of the team and staff, "don't treat her any differently" and that he thinks, "she is a trailblazer in that regard."

Nevin went on to say that Brynna never complains. Her commitment to the game shows as evidenced by her incredible touchdown pass.

Brynna has been obsessed with football for as long as she can remember. Growing up, she was a big fan of the Seattle Seahawks. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is someone she looks up to and admires.

When asked about how she feels being called an inspiration to other young girls out there looking to enter the traditionally male-dominated field of football, Brynna said to King 5 News, "It's absolutely phenomenal to have this kind of opportunity, to have people look up to you in ways that you've looked up to other people."

She credits her parents for being supportive of her dream to play football and says they never doubted her abilities.In terms of advice for other girls wanting to play sports, Brynna says, "Play your sport. Play the sport you want to play, no matter what it is."
