Nine college-aged vocalists recently performed a song against the backdrop of the desert in St. George, Utah. The tune the vocalists chose was a familiar one. However, they provided listeners with a fresh delivery.

The song is titled 'I can only imagine' and takes a look at what a human may experience in heaven at the end of their lives. The song was first released in 1999 by the band 'Mercy Me.' The song was a hit with the Christian audience and became the top-selling single of all time in the Christian genre.

The song takes a look at questions all human beings have asked themselves at one time or another. This fact probably explains why the song reached audiences outside of the Christian genre.

The members of the group Noteworthy decided to sing the song acapella. The song arrangement came complete with perfectly woven harmonies and vocal percussion.

Noteworthy's version of the song begins with a single vocalist singing the song's popular first phrase. The first vocalist is soon joined by a second singer. Next, a third vocalist joined the group. The entire ensemble soon joins the fray and they treat listeners to a powerful chorus. The pale blue dresses the women wore fluttered in the wind as they performed.

Noteworthy has been hailed as the top a capella ensemble for females at Brigham Young University. The group performs under the direction of Amy Whitcomb, who is a one-time member of the group.

Noteworthy began performing in 2003 and has enjoyed both local and national success in their 15-year existence. The group made an appearance on NBC's The Sing-Off in 2009. The show is a competition for a capella groups. Noteworthy took first place two years earlier in 2007 at an international competition for collegiate a capella groups.

Noteworthy group members are given the opportunity to sing music that uplifts their listeners and they find time in between performances to make videos for online viewers.

The current group members are listed on the group's website. Group members include Cami Jones, Ellie Hughes, Maryn Smith, Kacey Sorenson, Anna Slezak, Lizzy Newbold, Amy Geis-Lorsch, Meg Ackerman, and Allie Gardner. Fortunately for us, the video of their performance is also present on their website. Take a look.
