Some people think anybody can become part of the military. But this video truly shows that only the most dedicated, hardworking, and strong soldiers will make it to the top of the ranks.

Let yourself be introduced to U.S. Army Captain Sarah Cudd. She's in charge of Public Health Command in Fort Knox.

One of only 46 candidates who have earned the Expert Field Medical Badge, Cudd had to go through a grueling array of physical and written tests. Passing all of them is the only way to be given this honor. The last section of testing involves an exhausting march across a 12-mile road. Candidates must complete a tactical foot march within just three hours. And they're not in workout clothes, either. Instead, they have to wear heavy fatigues and carry along a large rifle and pack.

As Cudd went through the day, she became more and more exhausted. The video captures her final collapse just a few feet away from the finish line. But this isn't a sad story, because what happened next is amazing.

Cudd's determination rallied the other soldiers around her. They're shown encouraging her to get across the finish line because she's so close to making it. And she does. Of the mere 45 soldiers who made an attempt to receive the EFMB, Cudd was one of just a few who wouldn't give in. Her determination should inspire every one of us to go the extra mile, even when it's rough. And the soldiers should inspire us to encourage others to get through the rough part of the extra mile, because the finish line is right around the corner.
