Fed-Up Mom Quits Doing Chores Around The House To Run Family Experiment

Moms are often called the "light of the home" because of the critical role they play at home. But sometimes, they also need to teach their children (or husband) a lesson the hard way – simply because they have had enough.
Lily Potkin, who goes by @MissPotkin on Twitter, went full speed ahead to teach her family – particularly her partner – a lesson. She just stopped doing all the dishes after getting tired of having to do everything on her own.
"Two days ago, I decided to stop doing the dishes. I make all the dinners and I am tired of having to do all the cleaning too. SINCE THEN this pile has appeared and at some point, they are going to run out of spoons and cups and plates. Who will blink first? Not me," she wrote in her tweet.
It has since gone viral and garnered more than 185,000 likes and 47,000 combined quote tweets and retweets. People on Twitter then started placing their bets on who would yield first between them.
On the third day, her husband, Irish, started wondering what was going on, although he didn't seem bothered at all. Instead, her husband started using the last of the big bowls at home. Determined to do everything in her power to teach them a lesson, Lily left the dishes piling up.
Just when she thought it would finally make a difference, her husband started making tea with the baby's weaning spoon and the emergency cup.
But that wasn't everything — the dirty clothes were starting to pile up, too. "Let me know when you want to talk about the fact that I stopped doing the laundry too. It's getting a bit post-apocalyptic. The piles are everywhere," she said.

To her surprise, though, she saw her partner taking out the trash less than an hour later. "WE HAVE MOVEMENT! The bin is being emptied after 965 days," she stated.
On top of everything, she also decided not to replace the toilet rolls. "The last of the loo roll in the downstairs loo was used at 7:04pm last night. It hasn't been replaced. The downstairs loo is now out of action for anyone that remembers. For anyone that doesn't…god help them," she remarked.
But somehow, Irish decided to take over kitchen duties and do the dishes. "27 seconds of trying to scape that bowl, now multiply that by 6, and then multiply that by 7, then subtract the number of fucks should this word fucks be changed? I have left to give," she wrote.
Unfortunately, Lily received criticism on Twitter which led her to respond and clear the air out. "This is a lesson in wanting to be heard and respected and not having to repeat yourself when things slip," she said.
"We're navigating the day – today in extraordinary times and for me, the past two days have been funnier than anything else. I think we're all entitled to run our own experiments, be amused, push a situation to its limit if we so choose. No one needs to be lectured by those that have failed to see the silly joy in what's happening here," she continued.
Seemingly fulfilled with what she had accomplished, Lily said:
"WE MADE IT! (I'm not doing that again)."
"You're gonna have good days, bad days, and a lot of f*ck it days, but people don't like being taken for granted, especially by the ones they love the most. Period," she added.
