Father's Honest Post Sparks Debate About Dads Taking Daughters To The Women's Restroom

When you are a father of girls, it can be hard to feel like you are equally as important as the mom, and this is shown in the accommodations that women's restrooms have that men's bathrooms don't. If there is no family bathroom available when you are in public, a father of girls is left with the challenging decision of going into the men's bathroom or venturing into the women's.
One father, who goes by Chronicle of Daddy on Instagram, made a post about this predicament and asked women how they felt about a dad taking his daughters into the women's restroom. He started off by explaining the issue of taking his 5-year-old daughter to the bathroom in public as well as changing his 2-year-old daughter's diaper. He pointed out that in men's bathrooms if there even is a changing table, it is typically located near the urinals, which is unsanitary.
The dad also didn't feel comfortable bringing his daughters into a space where men are going to the bathroom out in the open, as men's restrooms don't usually have stalls for urinals. To avoid this situation, the father decided he would bring his daughters into the women's restroom until they were old enough to go alone.
The dad made it clear that he always knocks and announces himself, so the women inside know he is there with his daughters, and the majority of the time, no one has an issue with it. However, when he posted his story online, he got a few complaints from women who didn't agree with his decision to enter the women's bathroom. Keep reading to see how others reacted.
The father of three shared on his Instagram account that he always asks permission before entering the bathroom and doesn't just assume he is welcome. He explained:
"They are too young to go on their own so I have to go in with them. I try to be as respectful to women as I can while doing so which consists of knocking on the door before entering and announcing myself. Making sure if someone is inside that they know I am a Dad coming in with his daughter and making sure they are comfortable with that."
The dad made it clear that he was only doing this to keep his daughters safe. He added: "As a girl dad, I can't help but want to protect my daughters from all things that aren't for them, and the men's bathroom is 100% one of those things. Am I the only one? Ladies, how does this make you feel?"
This post started a debate among Instagram users, and not everyone was okay with men entering the women's restroom for any reason. "Men need to stay out of women's bathrooms. Full stop, no exceptions," wrote one commenter.
However, the vast majority of people said that they would take no issue with a dad taking his daughters into the women's restroom. Another person said, "Absolutely nothing wrong with a man taking a little girl to the women's bathroom. It is much cleaner and user-friendly."
A third commenter even said that they think most women would agree that the dad is doing the right thing. They said, "I'd have absolutely no problem with it. I commend you for putting your daughter's needs first, and I think most women would feel the same."
