Father Reunites With Missing Toddler Only To Realize A Stray Pit Bull Had Been Protecting Him

It was a routine morning for Ms. J who was out walking her two little precocious pooches as she had done many times before. However, that ordinary morning would turn out to be anything but.

In this recent story from October 2020, a St. Louis toddler named Kh’amorion was found by Ms. J, however, he wasn't alone—there was a pitbull by his side acting as a guard dog protecting the young child. After a search, the two-year-old boy was safely returned home, but the story highlights a positive side to pit bulls and a strong community spirit.

While holding two leashes, Ms. J. spotted something unusual: a little boy in his pajamas and no shoes being accompanied by a pit bull. The boy was too young to be out walking on his own, so she knew that something was wrong. She approached the boy and picked him up. Then she began pounding the pavement in search of his parents. That pit bull defies the stereotypical image of his breed as being aggressive and dangerous. While pit bulls can be aggressive, this one showed its kinder, gentler side. It protected a 2-year-old until he was reunited with his family.

This story has a happy ending but could have gone in another direction. With so many children being kidnapped, the dog and the neighbor were miraculously in place to prevent that from happening. Ms. J. believes in a strong sense of community and that neighbors should help one another. She was a perfect example of her own belief system: Pitch in and help where you can. She even had kind words for Kh’amorion's family in stating that the little boy appeared to be well cared for.
