Father Purchases 13-Year-Old Daughter A House For Her Birthday To Teach Her Financial Independence

When most kids turn 13, they are excited about becoming a teenager and probably just want to spend time hanging around with their friends. As a father, Avee-Ashanti Shabazz wanted more for his daughter. So much so, he bought her a house to celebrate her 13th birthday. However, Shabazz had another motive behind purchasing the house. He plans to use it to teach his daughter about financial independence.

Anjala turned 13 on July 4, 2020, and her dad knew a way to celebrate her and ensure she will be financially independent in the future. Shabazz said that he is starting a new family tradition where everyone will be gifted a house and taught how to grow their investment and turn it into multiple properties before they turn 18.

Shabazz’s main purpose with this gift was not to spoil Anjala or try to move her out early. Instead, he wanted to make sure his daughter is always taken care of and doesn’t need to go into debt to get a leg up in life.

This father’s lesson will help out his daughter tremendously in the future. There are so many families that struggle with housing in America and are living in serious debt. This kind of stress takes a toll on your mental and physical health, so it is a relief for Shabazz that his daughter won’t have to experience that struggle.

Ultimately, Shabazz is setting his daughter up for financial success and now she can focus her energy on what she wants instead of working to survive. Keep reading to learn more about this incredible gift.

In a passionate message on Facebook, Shabazz wrote: “Today I gifted my daughter with a house for her 13th B'earthday. This was not random, it was planned. This marks the beginning of a family tradition where every Shabazz will be gifted a house on their 13th B'earthday and taught to build it into multiple properties before they are legal adults. New day…”

He continued, “No more being trained to work 25 of your best years before you can retire and then be FREE to live how you choose. No more being trained to bury yourself in debt and spend your best years digging out of the hole. No more being trained to live paying rent or years of mortgages, and your home not being secure regardless of what life throws at you. No more being a slave to the banks and employers.”

Later in the post, Shabazz called on other parents to do the same. “Let's put our children in POSITION to be FREE to live how they choose while they're young and full of life. FREE them as best we can to live out their dreams and desires. FREE them to determine for themselves the relationships they may choose to have with banks and employers. FREE them so they can be what they are inclined to BE,” he wrote.

The post went viral and many commenters reached out to congratulate the father on a job well done. One person said, “That is what I am talking about!!! Make your money work. For years as a people we worked the land for others’ worth, now, let’s work our own land for our own self worth!!! GOOD JOB DAD!!! TEACH!!!”
