Father Of 13 Children Suffers Aneurysm And Can't Feed His Family - Then, A Secret Santa Shocks Them

The Keppner family received a miracle this holiday season. Russell and Rachel Keppner had a good life, but a busy and difficult one. Rachel stayed home to care for their 13 children while Russell worked hard to provide for them.

Then tragedy struck. Russell had an aneurysm. This left Rachel alone to provide for their children while Russell spent time in the hospital. Without Russell's income, the family really struggled.

They thought their holiday season was over before it could even begin.

Luckily, Russell fought through surgery and recovered enough to come home. Since he wasn't fully recovered, Rachel still needed to work and care for their children.

Money was tight. It didn't seem as if they'd have a true Christmas. Then, a miracle occurred.

Workers at a local news organization heard about the family's situation. Each year, an anonymous person donates money for East Idaho News to give away as part of their Secret Santa program. This year the organization had a whopping $250,000 to help out members of the community.

The Keppners seemed like the perfect recipients for some Christmas cheer. One morning while the unsuspecting family members were at IHOP, the East Idaho News Secret Santa crew showed up.

They handed Rachel an envelope that contained something extraordinary. She opened it and found a check for $5,000. Rachel immediately broke down. As her family looked on, she could only cry happy tears and choke out a grateful, "Thank you."

Thanks to some very generous people, the Keppners were able to have a joyful Christmas after all.
