Gender reveal parties is something that has shifted in popularity over the past few years, although some people still continue to embrace them. These parents-to-be typically invite plenty of their friends and family members over to do a gender reveal through a cake, balloon pop or something similar. They then celebrate the joyous occasion of spending the remainder of the pregnancy gearing up to have their son or daughter.

However, not everyone is a fan of these parties, or the reveal. An Australian dad-to-be seemed to be very disappointed in the outcome at the gender reveal party that was held for his future child. He and his wife had a large black balloon with question marks on it that contained smaller balloons inside that would indicate if they were having a son or daughter. Blue would represent a boy and pink would represent a girl.

Once the couple popped the balloon, several of their loved ones instantly began celebrating the happy news, and were excited to welcome a new addition to their family. However, the dad-to-be did not look nearly as thrilled, and in fact, actually looked very upset at the outcome.

A video of the gender reveal was uploaded to TikTok in April 2021 and has since gone viral and sparked an online debate about the dad’s reaction. While some appreciated that he was honest, others worried about how he would be as a parent to his new child. Some also pointed out how sad it could be for the child if they ever saw the video.

An Australian father-to-be appeared disappointed and frustrated at the results of the gender reveal party that was held for his future child. In a TikTok from April 2021, the expecting parents held a large black balloon and popped it, revealing plenty of small pink balloons that floated to the sky that indicated that the couple was going to have a daughter.

While many of their loved ones started celebrating, the man seemed disappointed and threw the popped balloon to the ground. According to VESA, it appeared that the woman standing next to the dad was his wife, and she was holding their first daughter, meaning this would be their second.

The TikTok has since been viewed more than 787,000 times and has received more than 2,000 comments. The NZ Herald reported that the dad-to-be’s reaction sparked a debate with many people calling him out for his obviously upset reaction.

Some people called out his behavior and the upset expression on his face. One person commented, “Imagine your kid seeing this when she’s older.” Another said, “What a nice memory for your daughter. I hope she never sees this.” A third user commented, “Someone wanted a boy.”

Others said that it was normal for men to want sons, so it made sense that the dad-to-be seemed a little sad. One person said, “At least he is honest, every man wants a boy if you already have a girl.” Another person said, “Wow, so dads aren’t allowed to have gender disappointments? I wanted a boy, but I have four beautiful girls that I love, adore and would do anything for.” A third person commented, “Unlucky bro… better luck next time.”

The original TikTok video has also been uploaded to other channels, and the father's reaction has mostly been met with negative comments. Though some people are willing to understand that the man was hoping for a son and not another daughter, his clear displeasure of having a daughter has led to a lot of outrage. Moreover, people are concerned with how bad his daughter would feel if she ever stumbled upon the video.

One commenter on Youtube, Standard Flight, shared their own story, "My ex was disappointed when we had our daughter. Now, she is 20 yrs old, about to complete college, and wants to go straight to university. People tell me she is a great kid, so, I guess I'm not bias She never gave me a headache. Sir, give thanks for your child. She might be the one to care for you later."

Another user, Midlight, also shared a similar story, "I really wanted a boy especially since I already had 3 daughters. Well at the ultrasound when it was revealed it was another girl I couldn’t believe it. I admit I felt some degree of disappointment as at age 43 this surprise pregnancy would for sure be my last (I’m a woman) and I really wanted to experience what it was like to raise a son." However, the user said she "got over it quickly," and "now have a super sweet and lovable 2 year old daughter."

The people who understood the father's disappointment also had something to say, "I can understand his disappointment, but he needed to internalize his disappointment," said Chris Fleming, while Elaine Morgan added, "I understand he's disappointed but with media everywhere you really have to be careful when expressing your self in public anymore."
