Father And Daughter Dance-Off Lights Up The Internet Amid Quarantine

With the world currently still in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, people have been getting creative, not only with the content they're putting online but even just how they're spending their time. This was the case for one father-daughter duo, who got together to perform a dance-off for not only their family, but they recorded it for the world to see. The hilarious video shows the two of them dancing off to Flo Rida's "Low" featuring T-Pain, and surprisingly, the father puts in a very good performance.
The video starts with the father and daughter standing together in what appears to be the family living room. They're both wearing dark clothing and hoodies –– the perfect get up to execute a dance off. The dad starts talking, explaining that it was his daughter who challenged him to the dance-off. He jokes that "I don't think she realizes how much a 38-year-old can still throw down," to which his daughter says "57," before he adds "51," obviously in reference to his age. He's very eager to get into the dancing, as he clearly knows what moves he's got in the bag. The video pans over to show his other daughter on the couch, ready to play the music, while the mother is recording –– it's a whole family affair!
The song by Flo Rida starts and already the duo are hilarious. The dad starts shouting "Put your hands in the air, all two of you" in reference to the rest of the family watching. He then adds a responsible coronavirus warning, saying "Stay 6 feet apart when you're throwing your hands in the air. Sanitize!" What a showman!

Then the dancing begins and to our surprise, the dad and daughter begin a pre-rehearsed routine in which they both absolutely nail it. But what's more surprising is the father's skills –– who knew he had those moves?! The fact he can keep up with his young teen daughter is impressive, in fact he's even giving her a run for her money –– he has so much energy!
There's a little unrehearsed section in the middle, before the dad adds "This is where I throw it down right here," and he's not messing around. The footwork then becomes really fast and they both keep up to speed, but the dad seems to be leading the routine.
The family can already be heard laughing, but then the dad does an unexpected move that turns the entire routine into something hilarious. Noticing his daughter losing momentum, he jokingly pushes her aside and says "Move out the way!" and continues dancing like a madman, this time with the stage for himself. He ends his solo dance yelling "That's right, 51 baby!" The entire performance was obviously rehearsed, but the father's dance moves are impressive to say the least. His ability to make a joke around the fact that nobody was expecting him to have any talent makes the video all the better.
What makes it even better is that it clearly shows a family enjoying each other's company and making the best of the tough situation we are all in. If it weren't for lockdown, the father may not have had time to learn a dance with his daughter, while the rest of the family watched on.
A study by Gettysburg College found "One-third of your life is spent at work. The average person will spend 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime." That's a staggering amount, so it's something we should all consider during this time that we have to spend such proximity to those we love. Even if we're working from home, we're still much closer to our family.
On top of that, the dance-off proves that not all time together needs to be spent looking at a screen. RescueTime, an app that monitors phone usage, found that on average we spend 3 hours and 15 minutes looking at our phones every day. That's a considerable amount when you break it down. So get creative, face away from a screen (unless you plan to record a family dance-off) and savor the time we've all been gifted to share with our families.
What did you think of the dad's slick moves? Let us know how you and your family are spending time together during lockdown, and be sure to pass this on to them!
