Fast Food Restaurant Is Employing Senior Citizens And Not Teenagers

Most fast food restaurants are ready and willing to hire teenagers. One restaurant is hiring another group of employees and is setting an example for other businesses.

McDonald's is one of the fast food chains where senior citizens are ready to go to work and where employers are ready to accept the help that is offered. Bob Evans is another restaurant that is opening up jobs for senior citizens instead of working with mostly teenagers and young adults.

These businesses are seeing that senior citizens want to work longer and are healthy enough to do the same tasks that the younger generation can perform. Many of them need to work in order to survive since social security benefits are so little for people who receive a payment each month.

Because of a labor shortage and an economy that has picked up at a faster pace than originally planned for, many fast food restaurants are hiring almost anyone who applies as long as they are willing and able to do the job.

In an interview with KOAA-TV, Hayes, district manager of Pita Pit in Colorado Springs, said, “There’s nothing wrong with kids, but it just seems that nowadays- the whole millennial thing, there’s very few of them that have good work ethics.”

Many seniors already have a strong work ethic in place and understand what it takes to listen to an employer and perform at least basic jobs like cleaning or operating a cash register. They are on time for work, and they are friendly to customers.

Some seniors who are hired by these restaurants are more of an asset than the younger employees who are hired.
