The Southeastern Australian state of New South Wales has been gripped with wildfires and drought, and a recent storm finally brought an end to the suffering for local farmers. Cattle farmer Grant Kneipp took the chance to celebrate with glee when the much-needed rain arrived at his front door.

Kneipp’s farm is located in the Northern Tablelands of Australia where 130 mls of rain has just fallen last week. The welcome drenching was a huge relief for the farmer and saved him and his family from suffering from the ash, smoke, and fire, as well as from constantly having to buy water for their cattle. The Independent reports that they also had to pump water in from a small spring on their property.

Grant’s wife Kylie is quoted in the publication as saying “He told our son that he would jump in that dam if he ever saw it full again and then had to carry through with it,” and in the end, he did! Photos and videos have emerged online of Grant taking a joyous leap of celebration into the dam where water has finally accumulated.

In the video, his unenthusiastic cattle look on as rain clouds still gather overhead. While the cows seem unfazed, it’s clear that Grant is overjoyed as he leaps into the dam while his hat flies off his head. It is the first win in a long while for the farmers in Australia, and it is fantastic that they get the opportunity to breathe for a moment.
