Back and better than ever, the competition-based reality show ‘American Idol’ is bringing new talent to the light on its most recent season. Known for taking ordinary people with talent to stardom, audiences are excited to see what the new season of the beloved reality show brings.
With a star-filled panel of judges including Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, anything can happen when contestants take the stage trying to impress them. One thing we’ve learned from watching ‘Idol’ over the years is that talent often comes from unexpected places, and that’s exactly what was made apparent when one farmer decided to take a shot at performing on the show.
The farmer is 28 years old, and his crop of choice is strawberries. His name is Kason Lester, and he decided that before performing in front of the judges he needed to sweeten the deal a little bit. He talked about his life on the farm and how everything was working out well there, but what he truly desired was to be an artist and a singer.

He enjoys the spotlight on him and he decided to take a chance at fulfilling his dreams by trying out for the competition show. He brought the judges some gifts from his farm, and they were charmed by his graciousness and generosity.
But what would Kason decide to sing? A Chris Janson song called “Holding Her.” He even played the guitar to accompany his vocals, and he serenaded the panel with the lovely and touching country song.
But how did the judges react to this farmer giving his best shot at singing? Lionel Richie himself was smiling from the instant he heard Kason’s voice, and Katy Perry even went so far as to tell him she thought he’d make it to the final top 10 of the entire competition!
Thankfully, Kason received the green light to continue on in the competition, and we’ll get to watch his new performances week after week in the talent show. It's up to the judges and the audience to decide how far he continues on in the competition, but we see big things ahead for this strawberry farmer.
