Fans React To Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson Showcasing Senior Year Photos

Being a celebrity isn't easy, but being a child celebrity seems to be even harder, with many child stars struggling as they grow up in the spotlight. Imagine being a reality TV star, where you're not only recognized but known as your real self—it's not a comfortable situation to be in. However, some child stars handle it with class and grace. Some child stars thrive in the environment. 

Alana Thompson, AKA Honey Boo Boo, became an overnight sensation when she first appeared on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' at just five years old. She skyrocketed to fame as one of the series' standout stars, eventually landing her own show.

Born Alana Thompson on Aug. 28, 2005, the child star is the youngest child of June Edith "Mama June" Shannon and her ex-husband, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson. At a young age, Thompson began taking part in amateur child pageants before landing her big break on the TLC series 'Toddlers & Tiaras.'

She first appeared in the televised pageant alongside her mother, Shannon, and became a popular contestant on the show, seemingly gaining massive fame overnight. She proved popular with viewers for her bold and confident manner, which included catchphrases such as "redneckonize" and "a dolla makes me holla." 

Thompson grew up before our very eyes, and now she is becoming an adult of her own. The young TV and pageant star recently posted a picture showing that she is stepping into her senior year of high school. The 16-year-old is excited and eager to step into young adulthood, and her manager said that she is even planning a makeover to kick off her senior year. 

In August of 2022, Thomspon posted multiple photos on her Instagram showing her excitement for her new school year ahead. She captioned the senior pictures of herself and said, “senior year!! 💗” She was pictured wearing a black top with a beautiful smile as well as some fun senior picture poses. 

The picture collection collected over 75,000 impressions and many comments. The world can’t believe that Thompson has grown up so fast! One person commented on her pictures and said, “So amazing. So proud of you.” Another commented and said, “OMG 😢😢 you’re growing up so fast Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️” 

Some internet users gave the young star advice and said, “Seems like yesterday you were drinking gogo juice! Hope you have a wonderful senior year! Soak it, it goes by fast!” No one can believe how fast she has grown up before the world's eyes. “Aww. Our Honey Boo Boo is all grown up 🙏🏼🥲,” an Instagram user commented. Most of all, fans were nothing but happy for the young star on stepping into such an accomplishment. “Have a great Sr yr you deserve blessings and happiness 💞,” a fan wrote. 

Aside from fans adoring and applauding Thomspon over the senior pictures, her manager has said that Thompson has more exciting personal news up her sleeve. In an interview with E! In July 2022, her manager, Gina Rodriguez, confirmed that Thomspon would be going through a weight loss procedure before starting her senior year of high school. Her manager added that the young tv star has been on her own weight loss journey for some time.

"Yes it's true she is having it done next month," Rodriguez said about Thomspon completing a minimally invasive weight loss procedure. "It's a non-surgical procedure, Suture Sculpt Endoscopic Sleeve,” Rodriguez added. 

Rodriguez went on to say, "Alana has been losing weight for months now and wants to do the procedure because she thinks it will help her lose more and keep it off." 

Thompson’s mom, Shannon, also has dealt with weight loss throughout her life as well. Battling morbid obesity throughout her adult life, she eventually had surgery to control her weight. Shortly after, the mom-of-three had another surgery to remove excess skin from the weight she'd lost. In the process, she went from 460 pounds to a size 4, and her dramatic transformation was documented in her own reality show, 'Mama June: From Not to Hot.' 

Speaking with 'Entertainment Tonight' in 2017, Lauryn Efird commented on her mother's weight loss as she said:

"I think that her biggest thing [she has to] overcome is that fact that she still thinks of herself as a bigger person, because, even to this day, like, a couple of days ago we had a conversation, and...she looked in the mirror and was like, 'I'm still fat.' And I guess because she's seen herself as a bigger person all these years, she doesn't realize how small she is."

Despite both of the family members having weight loss attempts, it is clear that Thompson is happier than ever as she steps into this final chapter of her high school journey.
