Christopher Walken has long been regarded as one of the best actors in the world. He's known for his intensity and quirky looks. Walken's most memorable roles have included a Bond villain and a caring dad in “Catch Me If You Can,” as well as performances in “Batman Returns,” “Pulp Fiction” and the live-action remake of “The Jungle Book.”

Walken was born on Mar. 31, 1943, in Queens, New York. The star found a love for performing early on as he and his brothers were child actors on television during the 1950s. Influenced by the looks of Elvis Presley, Walken changed his appearance during his teenage years and has continued to flaunt his styled hair ever since.

While he had intentions of pursuing higher education, that went out the window when Walken landed the role of Clayton Dutch Miller in the off-Broadway production of “Best Foot Forward,” acting alongside Liza Minnelli. Walken has since become a huge star, appearing in productions on stage, in films and in television series. So it’s not surprising that Walken has been honored with several awards and nominations over the years, receiving great praise from fans and critics alike during his illustrious career.

This is an actor who can always bring some real heat to his performances. But what many people don't know is that he's a true song-and-dance man. Hollywood has always known that Walken can dance. In fact, when he was very young, he danced with starlets like Minnelli in the 1963 production of “Best Foot Forward.” Even today, she testifies to the fact that he's one of the best partners she's ever had on the dance floor.

“I can see the glint in his eye every time he has the opportunity to dance onscreen,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. As the daughter of the late Judy Garland and the star of “Cabaret,” Minnelli knows a thing or two about great dancers.

Executive producer Craig Zadan seemed to have similar thoughts as Minnelli. “I think that if he had been around in the heyday of MGM, he would have been a big star of musicals on film,” he told Entertainment Weekly.”

Walken himself has talked about his extensive training. As a child, he learned tap, ballet and musical theater styles of dancing. The actor has gone on to appear in over 100 films and has awards and accolades for his career galore. He has found a way to stay prominent in Hollywood for several decades, enjoying fame in a variety of ways.

Back in 1978, Walken appeared alongside Robert De Niro and John Savage in the war drama “The Deer Hunter,” which explored the lives and complications of those who served during the Vietnam War. Walken’s performance in the film bagged him his first-ever Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

During the 1980s, Walken appeared in a successful string of movies, inducing “The Dogs of War” in 1980, “The Dead Zone” in 1983, “A View to a Kill” in 1985, “At Close Range” in 1986 and “Biloxi Blues” in 1988.

In the classic 1992 superhero film “Batman Returns,” Walked portrayed a Gotham villain, Max Shreck. The movie, which was directed by Tim Burton, ended up grossing $266.8 million worldwide with just an $80 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

Just a couple of years later, in 1994, Walked starred as Vietnam War veteran Captain Koons in the Quentin Tarantino film “Pulp Fiction.” He worked alongside other legendary actors, such as Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta. “Pulp Fiction” ended up winning eight awards out of 26 nominations, according to IMDb.

According to Far Out Magazine, Walken’s performance in “Pulp Fiction” is one of the most memorable from the film, as his deadpan delivery completely encapsulated the film’s tone. Roger Avary, Tarantino’s collaborator, had come up with part of Walken’s famous scene. “When I wrote it, given the length of the monologue, I rethought it as a series of shots,” Tarantino said. He later modified the clips, making it appear as if it was filmed all in one take.

The turn of the decade brought more success for Walken as he starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks in the 2002 film “Catch Me If You Can.” Walken won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film.

And while Walken has proven that he is a serious actor, he also has shown that he is a wonderful character actor. He has appeared as Captain Hook in “Peter Pan Live!” and voiced the character of King Louie in the live-action film “The Jungle Book” during the 2010s.

A 50-Movie Dance Compilation

Though he hasn’t always gotten the chance to dance on screen, Walken has jumped at the opportunity when he does get that chance. According to Entertainment Weekly, Walken’s former teacher helped him find opportunities to dance, such as in “Pennies From Heaven” in 1981.

A few years later, Walken dyed his hair to portray a ginger cat in “Puss in Boots.” In 2001, he famously appeared in the music video for Fatboy Slim's “Weapon of Choice.” And when Walken was asked to be in “Peter Pan Live!” he agreed, on one predicament: “As long as I can dance.” The production crew happily obliged.

Newer generations have been wowed by the star’s ability to move so effortlessly. However, earlier in his career, Walken danced quite a bit. In fact, Walken has shown us his dance moves in 50 separate movies that he's made.

Most of these were small moments. In these clips, Walken was often at a wedding. In others, he was an oddball, dancing alone in a nightclub. Some were musicals; for example, in “Hairspray,” he memorably danced in front of the television. When you stop to think about it, it's really amazing to have that kind of treasure trove of movement. Many actors will never be in that many films, and those who are won't have such interesting things to do.

No matter what role he is portraying or what age he is, it’s evident that Walken will always find a way to be the center of attention and proudly show off his great acting and impeccable dancing skills.
