Fans Lash Out At Adele For Defending ‘Entitled’ Attendee In The Middle Of Performance

Adele is one of the greatest singers of all time. Since her launch into stardom, the award-winning vocalist has toppled music charts worldwide and broken records. Adele has been topping the charts since her popular song “Chasing Pavements” hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2009. Since then, Adele has given us timeless hits like “Hello,” “Rolling in the Deep,” “Someone Like You,” “Skyfall,” and “Rumour Has It,” among many others.

In November 2021, Adele released her successful record, “30,” which was her fourth studio album. The music project, unlike her previous works, took a bit longer to release, and the reason behind it was that she was occupied with personal events going on in her life.

In the years leading to the album’s release, the “Hello” singer shifted her focus from music to family and health. The singer decided to take a giant leap forward regarding her health and lost over 100 pounds. Ushering her into a new and more confident self was her previous era, which came in the form of her 2021 album, “30.”

As part of her unending love for her fans, Adele embarked on her Las Vegas Residency titled “Weekends With Adele” at The Colosseum at The Caesars Palace in Sin City.

Ever since the shows began in November 2022 after being delayed for months, there have been numerous fan encounters that the musician had with her fans because aside from performing her classic and new hits on stage, there were also moments where she would go to the audience area and interact with concert-goers.

There was one moment in August 2023 that went viral on social media but wasn’t a lively chat with a fan or a heartwarming story from one of the attendees. It was Adele stopping her show in order to defend a concert-goer from a security guard.

A fan named Camila Rossi attended one of the “Weekends With Adele” shows in August 2023, and she shared some of the major moments from the show on her Instagram account.

Most of her clips were clear, as it appeared that she was seated in front of the stage.

In one of her Instagram stories, which was later re-posted by Pop Crave on X (formerly known as Twitter), Adele could be seen stopping her performance of “Water Under The Bridge” to stop a commotion happening in the audience area.

In the video, the singer donned a black glittery gown, and her hair was styled in glamor fashion to fit the occasion.

The music abruptly stops at the beginning of the clip, and then Adele immediately removes her mic from the stand and walks a bit forward to point out what’s been happening within the crowd.

“What is going on with that young fan there? He’s been bothered so much since I came on for standing up, what’s going on with you?” the singer said.

The musician continued to investigate from the stage and asked what happened. Although it was unclear what was going on at the time, Pop Crave noted in the caption of their video that the singer defended the fan “from a security guard.”

“Why are you bothering him? Could you leave him alone please?... They won’t go to you again, my darling,” Adele said in the clip, and then the crowd applauded and screamed for what the singer did.

The musician then went to the back of the stage and restarted the song.

After the video went viral on social media, fans took to the reply section to share their thoughts about the confrontation between Adele and the supposed security guard.

One shared their thoughts about the security personnel’s point of view as they wrote, “The security guard must have felt quite embarrassed at that moment.”

One agreed and replied, “As he should. He started the whole embarrassment thing.”

A user expressed their love and admiration for Adele because of how she treats her fans as they wrote, “Adele’s heart is as powerful as her voice! 🙌🎶 Her dedication to her fans is truly admirable. This moment is a testament to her genuine love and care for the people who support her.”

“She is so incredible. Just when I think I can’t love her more she does another incredible thing,” one posted.

One pointed out that it was possibly not Adele’s security but rather a guard assigned at the venue.

“Yes security does the most sometimes and it’s not even the artist’s security… it is the venues. I love when artists are watching and tells everyone to chill,” one wrote.

One user was skeptical about the situation, but they noted that they would trust Adele regarding the matter.

“Idk if security AND the people behind the guy are “bothering” him it sounds like he’s the problem but I’ll trust Adele on this one,” one wrote.

However, many have also come to the defense of the security at the venue and described Adele’s response as “wrong.” An opinion writer at The Independent called out the fan at the center of the controversy, saying his actions were selfish and came at the expense of others.

“This guy wasn’t just ‘enjoying the show’; he was filming a TikTok. He was filming himself having the biggest and most obnoxious reaction possible for the sake of his followers… there’s a time and a place for being excessively weird. Yes, even when it comes to concerts. You can see pretty clearly in the background that whatever this guy was doing was simply not the vibe that night… Fair play to Adele for trying to protect the guy, but in doing so she’s undermined the people who are looking out for her,” Ryan Coogan wrote.

Redditors also took issue with Adele’s reaction. One user wrote, “Honestly, Adele you're all the way up there and have no idea how annoying he might be to others lol. That looks obnoxious,” while another said, “Adele cared for him, but how about the person behind him whos view is getting blocked?”

A third user said the fan was “legit ruining an expensive show for others. I think Adele did the wrong thing here makes him feel entitled to do so or something.”

Another user echoed the sentiment and remarked, “Of course he’s there to have fun. And like she said ‘you all are’. He’s not special. So why do his needs matter more when everyone else is trying to respect each others space to appreciate the art?”

The fan, named Juan Pablo, later defended his actions and told TMZ:

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry… but, I only had one opportunity to see her, and I took it.”
