Fans Gush Over Bradley Cooper’s Reaction In Clip Of Lady Gaga Bursting Into Song At 'A Star Is Born' Table Read

The 2018 version of “A Star Is Born” marked the fourth time that this classic Hollywood story has made its way to the big screen. Tongues began wagging almost immediately when it was announced its two top stars would be Hollywood heartthrob Bradley Cooper and none other than infamous diva Lady Gaga.

In addition to starring in the film, the movie would also make history as Cooper’s directorial debut. He also served as a writer for the screenplay. In the remake, Cooper stars as the main character, a down-on-his-luck former superstar who falls for a songstress whose star is on the rise, played by Lady Gaga.

While movie fans were already familiar with Cooper’s work, having made a name for himself in films such as “The Hangover” series, “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Valentine’s Day,” “American Sniper” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” this would be Lady Gaga’s first foray into a leading role in a major film production, after only bit parts in films and television shows such as “Gossip Girl,” “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” and “American Horror Story.” Hollywood was abuzz with talk about how Lady Gaga would fare in a dramatic movie role and eager to find out if she could really cut it as a Hollywood actress. Industry insiders were also keen to see how the movie would pan out without superstar Beyoncé, who was at one point attached to play the part that eventually went to Lady Gaga, according to IMDb. Other singers who had been considered for the role included Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Janelle Monáe but the part went to Lady Gaga and the rest, as they say, is history.

Before Cooper gathered Lady Gaga, Sam Elliott and other cast members for the film’s shoot, he had them come together for a table read. Table reads are a standard exercise prior to filming, and help the cast visualize each scene they will be in and what their acting partners are like. In them, cast members generally just go over their lines to get an idea of what shooting will hold.

Some of the things that make it to the big or small screen also come from suggestions that cast and crew members make during table reads. The director might decide to adjust a few lines or give lines to other actors as well as remove some of the scenes that don't make sense or those they realize don’t serve the film or movie.

During the first table read, Gaga stunned Cooper and the others by breaking out into a gorgeous rendition of “Shallow.” She performed the song acapella while seated at the table, and no background music was necessary to help her.

Though more than 50 people were in the room, no one could take their eyes off her. It's pretty clear why she won Best Original Song for “Shallow” at the Academy Awards as well as why she walked home with a Best Actress nomination. You can almost see the tears in their eyes when she reached the last note.

Throughout the “performance,” Cooper, who was seated next to Lady Gaga, also could not take his eyes off of her and kept his hand over his mouth to suggest just how impressed he was by his leading lady. And he wasn’t the only one.

Viewers, too, were just as stunned as those at the table read, if not more so.

“That's what I call a true voice. She's the queen,” one viewer wrote.

“I admire this woman’s story and talent! She sings and feels every word.I really love her voice and passion,” another user commented.

“To sit there and sing like that is just amazing to me. I would be mesmerized sitting there listening to that. The grit in her voice is awesome. How are all the people there not blown away by her? Bradley was the only one right there taken in by her 💯% focused. Truly gifted,” a third fan exclaimed.

“That takes guts to belt out a tune of a song you wrote sitting at a board room meeting, where everyone looks tired and bored from going over the scripts all day long, that's why Brad likes her, she's real what you see is what you get a true, gifted star,” wrote another starstruck fan.

Others were struck by the confidence Lady Gaga showed in the clip.

“I love how she ended that and casually looked at Bradley like ‘was that how you wanted it?’” one viewer commented.

“Imagine just being able to bust out those vocals at any point. Slayed,” another fan wrote.

“She is flawless, sitting in a boardroom full of people she likely doesn't even know, and asked to sing on the spot… nails it... she is amazing,” a third fan commented.

While Lady Gaga’s singing prowess was definitely on show in the clip, it wasn’t the only thing that fans and viewers noticed.

Others, meanwhile, were left confused as to why Cooper and Lady Gaga, especially with their sizzling chemistry – onscreen and off – had never paired up.

“I can’t help but say it. I wish these two had gotten together. There’s something between these two that you can feel every single time they look at one another. It feels as though they have a connection we all want with someone special. And I love how she looks to Bradly after singing for his approval and how red his face gets with so much pride for her,” one viewer commented.

“She is flawless… I will be disappointed forEVER that they didn't let their obvious love for each other blossom. Ugh. They were amazing together and she is simply extraordinary,” another fan gushed.

“The way Bradley looks at her is so beautiful,” a third commenter wrote.

Though both Cooper and Gaga were in relationships with other people, the gossip mill went crazy about their chemistry, as Nicki Swift reported. It left some wondering if maybe there was more to their relationship than just a professional connection.

You can understand why some felt that way when you see the looks they exchange, especially when Cooper gives her a sheepish little smile at the end. The closeness that they share is also evident in the way he touches her shoulder in a reassuring manner as the cast and crew applaud. And while nothing romantic ever occurred between them in real life, at least fans can remain assured that their sizzling chemistry is forever cemented in “A Star Is Born.”
