Fans Are Surprised When They Find Out Owen Wilson’s Younger Brother Is Famous

Owen Wilson, 55, is an American actor who has starred in dozens of movies that span many genres. He is famous for saying “wow” in most, if not all, of his films and is renowned for working with filmmaker Wes Anderson. Owen has written and acted in many of Anderson’s films. They co-wrote “Bottle Rocket,” “Rushmore,” and “The Royal Tenenbaums,” for which Owen was nominated for the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Screenplay. 

Some of Owen’s popular movies include “Marley and Me” and the “Night at the Museum” franchise. He is also the voice of Lightning McQueen in Disney’s “Cars” films. In 2021, Owen appeared in the Disney Plus series “Loki,” which inducted him as a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  

Meanwhile, Owen considers himself a romantic and has played the romantic boyfriend in many of his movies. In 2022, the “Rom-com king” was on the Today show to promote his movie, “Marry Me,” which he starred in alongside Jennifer Lopez. He shared that he loved the film because of the opportunity to work with J.LO and that the leap towards marriage was “poignant” for him. 

The actor’s statement is remarkable because despite having a long and successful career, he hasn’t married yet. However, the actor is a father of three and loves to spend time with his kids. He also has two brothers whom he is very close to, and the three are all part of the entertainment industry. However, not many people know that his younger brother is a famous actor. Fans were, therefore, stunned when a TikToker shared the news on Aug. 23, 2022. 

Luke Wilson is an American actor. He discovered and fell in love with acting while studying at Occidental College. He made his movie debut in 1993 with “Bottle Rocket,” which he appeared in with his brothers, Owen Wilson and Andrew Wilson. The trio collaborated with Wes Anderson to make the initial 13-minute short film, which was shown at the 1993 Sundance Festival. 

“Bottle Rocket” captured the attention of director James L. Brooks, who insisted that the unknown trio had to be in the movie. With his help and insistence on keeping in it, the film was released as a full-length feature flick in 1996. 

The brothers moved to Hollywood afterward, and Luke’s career began to pick up. He has appeared in comedies like “Best Men,” “Legally Blonde,” “Charlie’s Angels,” and “Home Fries.” He is renowned for playing the supportive boyfriend or husband. 

Like his brother Owen, Luke is not married, but he has always been vocal about his desire to have a family. In 2019, he told Hollywood Life: 

“I definitely want to start a family. I love my niece and my nephews … I’m 47, I’m ready for that. I need to get to work.”

Another thing Luke had to work on was living alone. The actor lived with his older brother, Owen, for many years. He revealed that it was fun, and he practically had to be forced to get his own place. When he did, he didn’t move in until almost a year later. Owen also discussed the arrangement on Today when he shared that it was fun living with Luke as he had someone to talk to, go out with, and argue with.

Luke and Owen have similar facial features and voices, so some of their die-hard fans already knew they were related. However, most other fans found out after TikTok content creator Jemma McCarthy posted a video on Aug. 23, 2022, to announce the relationship between the two acclaimed actors. 

In the clip, which showed the brothers alone and together, the TikToker added an overlay text that read:

“I was today years old when I realised this guy is Owen Wilson’s brother!!?!! 👑."

It turned out that McCarthy wasn’t the only one who hadn’t put two and two together about the Wilsons’ relationship as many responses to her caption, “TELL ME IM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT JUST CLOCKED!?!? Luke Wilson from Legally Blonde n Look Both Ways is bros with the legend Owen Wilson.. guess the name gives it away,” showed many fans were ignorant of the fact. 

“Now I know why he looks so familiar 😂😂😂 Never thought about they are brothers 😄,” a user commented. 

Another person wrote, “Ok I’m shocked but not at the same time!!”

A third user wrote, “I JUST THOUGHT THEY LOOKED LIKE EACH OTHER!!!! I didn’t even put two and two together.”

“It makes total sense but the dots just never connected for me 😭 like they share so many mannerisms!,” another person responded. 

However, some fans also shared that they found out that Luke and Owen were related a long time ago and are surprised that others didn’t connect the dots. Many also remarked that they found out because the brothers have the same last name and nose. 

“Am I old??? I thought everyone knew this haha,” someone commented. 

Another person wrote, “Girllll what!!😂😂😂 Everyone knows they brothers. They talk exactly the same 😭.”
