Family Never Shows For Dog On Adoption Day, But It’s All A Set-Up For Sad Foster Mom

One of the hardest parts of being dog foster parents is when one of their foster pets has a successful adoption. Many foster parents form strong emotional bonds with the dogs they take care of.

There are many reasons why foster parents can't adopt the dog themselves. However, even if the dog isn't the perfect one for the foster family, it can still be an emotional time when a dog goes to its forever home. In a video posted by the Northwest Boxer Rescue, one dog, named Cookie, had a very strong bond with her foster mom, Nicki Clawson.

Northwest Boxer Rescue said in a Facebook post that Nicki's husband, Tim, called them to say Cookie couldn't leave Nicki's side. He talked with the rescue that was trying to adopt Cookie out, the NorthWest Boxer Rescue. They hatched a plan to make the bond permanent between Cookie and Nicki.

Nicki was told Cookie was going to be adopted. Then Tim, Nicki, and Cookie loaded up to go meet the adopter. However, no one came to meet them. To make the plan more believable, one of the Boxer Rescue volunteers hands Nicki a folder with a phone number inside and asks her to call the adopter.

Nicki opens the folder to find the phone number is actually hers. She tells the volunteer there's a mistake. The coordinator explains there's no mistake. The person whose phone number is there is the one adopting Cookie. Cue tears and hugs. Nicki's response was "What!? Don’t mess with me right now. Are you serious?"

Cookie had found her forever home with the foster mom who couldn't let her go.
