Family Celebrated Christmas In October For 9-Year-Old Influencer Battling Stage 4 Cancer After Her Health ‘Took A Turn’

The twinkle of lights and sparkle of ornaments filled a cozy home in early October 2025, long before the usual holiday season began. Stockings were hung, gifts were wrapped, and the scent of pine and cinnamon drifted through the air. To anyone passing by, it might have seemed like an eager family simply getting into the Christmas spirit early. But for the Bird family, the decorations held a much deeper meaning.

On social media, followers of Kendra Bird had come to know her daughter Brie through an array of posts that highlighted strength, hospital visits, and sweet times together. Kendra had been monitoring her daughter’s health for months, highlighting signs of both well-being and easy rest. Kendra gathered almost a million followers who became a strong community filled with support.

The days leading up to the celebration were filled with both joy and medical updates. Just before the announcement, Kendra explained that Brie had received a blood transfusion after showing signs of fatigue and fever.

“We decided to get a blood transfusion so that she can hopefully have some more good days,” she said, continuing, “This transfusion has already brought down her heart rate, lessened her fever, her oxygen has improved, and we’ve had great conversations!”

Earlier that same week, Kendra shared a beautiful family photo with a caption that captured both love and loss: “Sept. 21, the last family photo we took where Brielle had the strength to stand. Things took a turn SO quickly. How is it possible that you look back at photos from a week and a half ago, and see a completely different little girl.”

On Oct. 6, 2025, Kendra made a heartbreaking announcement.

“We will be celebrating our last Christmas together, as a family of 6,” she wrote.

Her words appeared beside a video of their home transformed into a winter wonderland. The clip showed presents stacked neatly under a glowing tree and a fireplace surrounded by holiday cheer. She continued:

“I am still in denial. I want the miracle SO desperately.”

Behind the carefully wrapped boxes and cheerful music was a mother’s wish for time to slow down. The next day, instead of waiting for Dec. 25, the Birds planned to gather for their most meaningful Christmas yet, ensuring that Brie could share it with her siblings and parents.

Brie’s story also caught the attention of celebrities. In early 2025, pop superstar Ariana Grande sent a package filled with gifts inspired by “Wicked,” a musical Brie adored. Kendra wrote in gratitude:

“You made this little girl’s dream come true! Thank you for your beautiful, kind, generous heart! We are so grateful! She still can’t believe that you know who she is. So much love to your family!”

Along with gifts came a heartfelt message from Grande.

“I’ve seen your videos and I think you are the most amazing, most inspiring little light beam in this universe. You’re just so incredible, so thank you for being you,” Grande said in the video message, adding, “I’m sending you so much love and many, many, many virtual hugs. I hope this makes you smile, and I’ll speak to you soon. Love you.”
