Family Brings Two Stray Dogs Back Home From The Caribbean, Ended Up With 17 Puppies

One Colorado woman was determined to have the most amazing birthday celebration possible. Since it was her 40th, Jennifer Boltz wanted to do something extra special. She and her husband, Kevin, planned a trip to St. Maarten, an island in the Caribbean. They and their children headed there, expecting a tropical paradise.

St. Maarten is known for its friendly inhabitants, its nightlife, and its pristine beaches. It also has its fair share of street dogs. While the Boltz family was snapping pics of the island's beauty, two of these stray dogs wandered into view.

The dogs were sweet but malnourished. The family fell in love with them right away. They named the dogs Maisie and Coconut. The more time they spent with the dogs, the more Jennifer and Kevin realized that they couldn't leave them behind.

It took two weeks for them to make the necessary arrangements to legally bring the dogs back to Colorado with them. Kevin even had to fly back to St. Maarten in order to get them home.

The dogs quickly settled in. Having two children and four dogs -- they'd had two pets prior to adopting the island strays -- made for a full house, but it also made them happy.

Then the Boltz family began to notice something strange. Maisie and Coconut appeared to be gaining weight at a rapid pace. At first, they believed that it was because the dogs were overeating. After all, they'd gone from starving to having as much food as they could eat.

Then Coconut started acting strange. Soon, the dog was giving birth. When she finally finished, the Boltz family had 10 more puppies to care for. If that's not enough, a few days later, Maisie went into labor. She gave birth to seven puppies of her own as per MSN.

Now, Jennifer and Kevin have 21 dogs to care for! They plan to find all of the puppies good, loving forever homes.

The Boltz family believed they were saving two lives but wound up saving 19. Would you have done the same thing in their situation? Or would you have passed by the stray dogs and enjoyed your vacation?
