How would you handle losing everything you own because you responded to a post on Facebook? This is exactly what happened to a young couple with a newborn baby.

Mark Higgins and his fiancé Becky Szenk believed they were moving up in the world. The couple was excited about moving from the small apartment they occupied to a new house with their child. As reported on ITV, the new parents needed to find a moving company, and they looked for one online. An advertisement post on Facebook caught their attention. It was for a removal worker advertised as "Lee Green". He advertised himself as a man with a van. The couple contacted Lee Green and decided to use his moving services.

Moving Day

On the day of the couple's move, two workers quickly and carefully placed all their possessions into a box van. The movers drove off with all their items. Unfortunately, that was the last time Mark and Becky ever heard from them. It was a devastating experience for the young couple. According to Becky, the removal men were going quickly in and out of their apartment.

As she told The Telegraph, "We just thought they were being very professional. But once they drove away we didn't see them again ...  Everything we own was packed into that van. It all happened so quickly, around 45 minutes from start to finish ... They were supposed to meet my partner at the pub but never turned up. We have been left with virtually nothing."

Left With Nothing

Prior to the move, the men informed the young couple they should pack all their belongings in boxes. Each of the boxes had to be clearly labeled. Becky didn't realize it at the time, but she remembers how the movers took the boxes with valuable items first. She told The Telegraph that she did ask them why they were going so fast to get their things packed. A worker told her they were busy and had a lot of jobs to do that day.

Donations

The story of the young couple losing their items to a moving scam went viral. Many people came forward to help them. The young couple told The Mirror that they were overwhelmed with all the donations they received. They may have lost their faith in humanity when they lost all their belongings, but it was restored by the way so many people offered them help. The young couple hopes people hear their story and learn from their mistakes.

If you think that there is a valuable lesson to be learned here, you may want to tell your friends about it. Doing this could help save them from being the victim of an online moving scam.
