Extraordinary Golden Retriever Loves To Play The Wind Chimes Everyday While Singing Along To Music

Dogs are constantly impressing people with their many hidden talents. Wilmington, North Carolina resident Ana Brown's four-year-old Goldern Retriever Bleu is no exception. In a video posted to YouTube this year, Bleu showed off her hidden musical talent by playing the windchimes while singing along, which is something she has been practicing for years.

Golden retrievers often get a bad rap for being not the brightest dogs in the world. This is usually because they stay puppies seemingly forever, never losing their puppy-like enthusiasm and playfulness. However, buried under all that energy they are very intelligent dogs. When those smarts get combined with a sweet face, soft fur and loveable personality, it explains why "goldies" are one of the best family pets out there. They've even been known for their acts of bravery when it comes to saving and protecting their families.

While all that sounds like a lot, out of all of those impressive personality traits and qualities, one thing golden retrievers are not usually known for are their musical talents. Four-year-old Bleu may be the exception to this rule, according to her owner Ana Brown.

Like many golden retrievers, Bleu has always had a "golden" voice. However, what sets her apart is that Bleu's musical interest didn't just stop at singing. Bleu is also intelligent enough to have taught herself to play a musical instrument.

Ever since she was a young puppy, Bleu has been obsessed with the windchimes in her backyard, according to The Dodo. It all started when Brown was cleaning up the yard and decided to repurpose an old garden hook, which is normally used to hold a hanging flower pot. Brown had a wind chime that she wanted to display, so she decided to hang it on the garden hook in the yard.

Speaking to The Dodo in April 2020, Brown talked about how Bleu developed her unique musical skill: "When she was really, really little, like 4 months old, she walked outside and her head hit the wind chimes because they were down so low. We kinda freaked thinking that would be horrible for her ears — but she just started singing." And so what seemed like a traumatic incident actually changed all of their lives for the better.

After that day, Bleu fell in love with music. At least once a day, when going outside to do her business, Bleu wags her tail, tips her head back to reach the wind chimes, and performs for her family, according to The Dodo.

Brown calls it "the most precious thing." She states that she isn't sure whether Bleu "loves the sound, or if she knows she can play it herself." To Brown, it seems "almost like she tries to keep in tune with it."

The appreciation Bleu has received isn't just from her family, either. Her first Facebook video had more than 100,000 shares in the first 24 hours it was uploaded alone. Since first posted, nearly 20 million people have watched it, according to The Dodo. She hasn't let the fame go to her head, though. Brown told The Dodo: "My mom got us a really nice wind chime for Christmas and [Bleu] won't touch it. She wants nothing to do with it. She just wants the wind chimes that she's used to."

Golden retrievers are amazing, loving, family dogs, but Bleu really does go the extra mile to make life for those around her special. Her wind chime skills are truly one of a kind.
