Laura McIntyre posted a picture of her twin sister, Caty Nixon, after Caty had finished a series of long nursing shifts. Caty had to deliver a stillborn baby during one of the shifts, adding to her angst and sadness. Laura was able to capture Caty's emotions in one single shot, sending a message about what nurses go through both physically and emotionally on a daily basis just by going to work.

Caty had just worked 53 hours in three days when the memorable shot was taken. Along with the picture, Laura wrote a caption explaining the kind of day her sister was having when the photo was taken.

"She usually doesn't get a chance to eat lunch or even drink much water," Laura wrote.. "..She is so good at what she does that she often forgets how to take care of herself while she's taking care of her patients," she added.

The photo definitely struck a nerve with many. Laura's post was spread to thousands of people who agreed with the sentiment. In an interview with Good Morning America, Caty said that the most rewarding part of nursing is the connection that she makes with other people while the worst part is knowing that you sometimes cannot change the sad outcome.

You can show your support for nurses everywhere by spreading this picture and story to as many people as possible. There is no doubt that nurses are some of life's greatest unsung heroes. We should do all that we can to show them how much we appreciate their efforts day in and day out.
