Elephants are loved around the world, and it’s no wonder. From their impressive, large bodies to their caring and compassionate natures, these massive animals are certainly a blessing in our world. A recent video clip manages to showcase the kindness of elephants and their unwavering love and devotion towards each other.

In the video clip, one tiny elephant calf is traveling with the herd through South Africa when exhaustion finally overtakes the little baby. No doubt tired and dehydrated, the baby was crossing the road in front of some traffic when the calf simply falls down on the pavement and is unable to get up, Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan posted on his Twitter.

It’s looking like the baby may be left behind for dead. However, that’s not the way that elephants treat those in their herd. The entire herd stops and turns to help the baby elephant. Some of the larger elephants move around the baby, creating a barrier so that they can protect it against oncoming cars and predators. They are willing to risk their own lives to ensure the safety of this little calf.

The drivers who are stopped in the road watched in concern, worried about what might happen to the exhausted little baby and unsure how long the herd of older elephants would be willing to wait.

One of the larger elephants was ready to help the baby get up and moving once again. The adult took its leg and worked to give the baby the push it needed to get back onto its feet. Sure enough, the extra support was exactly what the tired calf needed to regain its footing and get back to walking.

Once it was standing up, the baby was able to walk off the road and continue its journey on with the rest of the herd. It was amazing to see the loyalty among these large creatures and we’re sure that the travelers who saw it firsthand will never forget this experience.

Watch the video for yourself but be prepared – you may need tissues to get through it! If only people were as kind and caring as elephants. Perhaps if we would all stop to help each other when we are going through hard times, we could give one another the support needed to keep going through this journey called life.
