Excited Shiba Inu Pup Loses It As Owner Comes Home

There is nothing more touching than returning home after a long day and being greeted at the door by a furry friend. Yuki, an adorable Shiba Inu puppy, can’t seem to contain his excitement from the moment his owner comes home in a video from 2017.

We can’t trace the origin of the video, but we found it online and had to share it with you. In the video, you can see Yuki begin to get excited when he hears someone outside of the door. As soon as the owner comes into the room, Yuki’s tail starts wagging at an incredible speed. He can’t hold in his joy as his owner kneels down to pet him and shower him with love.

You can hear the owner say, “Hello!” with a laugh as the young puppy jumps all over her. When she starts making kiss noises at him, Yuki jumps up to her eye level and licks her face. It is so adorable and special to witness such a strong connection between a person and their pet.  

Yuki is so cute with his fox-like build and well-behaved demeanor. He is filled with so much excitement yet doesn’t bark at his owner. He only runs to her with his tail constantly wagging to show her as much love as possible. His owner responds by playing with her puppy, letting him jump up on her. She also uses her hands to playfully push up against him. Yuki is thrilled with this, and you can see the energy bubbling off of him as he focuses entirely on his owner. 

 If this video shows us anything, it’s that this dog is devoted to its owner, which is common for the Shiba Inu breed. This adorable breed originated in ancient Japan, where it remains a popular breed to this day. Archeologists have found remains from dogs resembling the Shiba Inu from as far back as 7,000 B.C. Their special connection with humans has really stood the test of time.

These special little dogs make wonderful companions; in fact, there is even a famous story in Japan of a Shiba Inu named Mari who saved her owner and her puppies after a major earthquake in 2004. They even made a movie about the touching story named “A Tale of Mari and Three Puppies,”  which shows Mari waking her owner after he fell unconscious from being hit by a falling cabinet and moving all of her puppies to a safe location where they were later rescued. These resilient dogs seem to do anything to protect those they love.

On YouTube, many people stopped to leave a comment and share their reactions to such a heartwarming video. One person said, “If more people loved dogs, the world would be a much better place. They can teach us so much without saying a single word.” This is especially true for Yuki, who didn’t bark or make much noise at all when his owner came home. Despite the dog's lack of barking, it is still perfectly clear how thrilled he was to see her, as you can see in the video below.

Another commenter said, “They give the best welcome we can ever ask for...this is so beautiful to watch.” Being greeted with such enthusiasm by your pet every time you return home almost never feels less than amazing. 

Someone else shared this, “The greatest thing about dogs and most animals, in general, is that they love you unconditionally. Why can't we humans be like that too?” We can all learn something from the ones we love, even if they are animals. Yuki shows us how to be devoted to our loved ones and to express our feelings of joy.

The first documented Shiba Inu came to the United States from Japan in 1954. They were brought over by a military family and lived a long, happy life. The name Shiba Inu is directly translated to “brushwood dog.” Brushwood could refer to the dog’s coloring or from the brush found in the mountains where they are originally from.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), Shiba Inus are sturdy and muscular dogs that have quite bold personalities. "They’re sturdy, muscular dogs with a bold, confident personality to match," the AKC writes on its website. They are confident and smart, which suits their almost fox-like appearance. Most Shibas are energetic and love to go on walks with their owners. They require a lot of exercise and attention, however, with some Shiba Inus being prone to separation anxiety.

The most common health condition among the breed is allergies, which is common for most dogs. Always watch your dog closely and pay special attention to skin irritation and excessive scratching.
