Eurasian Eagle Owlets Hatched In Nest Outside Man's Window—Now Owlets Watch TV With Him

Belgian resident Jos Baart has some new neighbors, and they just so happen to be Europe's largest owl, the Eurasian Eagle Owl. After he thought the noise outside his window was pigeons, he realized they were much bigger birds. After they hatched, they started watching TV with him through the window.

Baart lives in an apartment on the third floor. His most frequent neighbors tend to be pigeons. He dislikes when the birds set up a nest near his windows because of the noise they create. Sounds outside the window began again recently for the man and led him to think another pigeon family had moved in. He eventually decided to check on the nest and discovered the latest tenants were not pigeons at all, but a family of owls nesting in his window flowerbox.

The owls turned out to be Eurasian Eagle Owls. The breed is one of the largest types of owls in the world. The owlets grew quickly as Baart regularly checked the nest, until one day he caught sight of them staring back at him through his window.

As they grew larger the fuzzy birds began to line up along the windowsill whenever Baart turned on his TV. The owlets seem to have an endless fascination with every program the apartment owner watches. Photographs and videos of the owls peering into the apartment shows how entranced the creatures are by the colorful images on the TV. Baart considers the owlets very entertaining as well and spends a lot of time watching them too.

Eurasian Eagle Owls rarely make appearances in populated areas, so Baart knows he has been very blessed to have this special experience. The owlets will remain in the nest for about five months before they mature enough to fly off alone. Time will tell if the sweet creatures will occasionally return to watch their favorite programs with their human friend.
