Two artists proved that music is a bond across generations when they performed together in 2016. Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton shared the stage with a young upstart, Ed Sheeran, at a concert at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan for a rendition of the song "I Will Be There."

The video starts off with a solo Eric Clapton sitting on stage before he brings out his duet partner, Ed Sheeran. The crowd goes wild for the somewhat unlikely duo and Ed sits down to pay next to his idol. The two sat down with a pair of acoustic guitars for the performance and began strumming the opening bars with the poignant lyrics of the song:

"When times are hard and friends are few/And you need someone to help you through/Just call my name and I'll come running to your side/Don't be afraid don't be afraid."

Eric takes the lead on the lyrics while Ed harmonizes perfectly with his amazing voice too. It must have been an electrifying moment because as he told Rolling Stone in 2015, Clapton was the reason he started playing guitar after seeing him perform on TV when he was just 11 years old.

Now the two get to perform together and in reciprocation, Eric Clapton has taken on a mentor role for Ed Sheeran. He told Rolling Stone in another interview that Ed has asked him for advice, to which he replied: "Slow down. Don’t burn it all up too fast."

What a magical moment when a musician gets to play with his idol. What do you think about the duet? Let others know who might be fans of either artist about this incredible duet.
