Although the average citizen in the U.K. lives to be about 81 years old, there are some incredible exceptions.

One man has been able to surpass this average by roughly 30 years, and it doesn't seem like he has plans to stop.

Bob Weighton is England's oldest man, and one of the oldest living people in the world. The former engineer and teacher were born on March 29, 1908. He recently celebrated his 111th birthday. Speaking to the Mirror, Bob decided to share some age-old advice with the rest of the country. This isn't the first time that Bob has been in the spotlight. In fact, the Queen has been sending him cards for his birthdays for the past few years.

However, Bob doesn't want all of this attention anymore. He's asked that he does not receive any more birthday cards, as he believes they are an unnecessary expense to the taxpayer.

When asked about his secret to longevity, he jokingly replied:

"By avoiding dying - there's no reason otherwise. I have had the usual scares, flu, influenza, malaria, two or three operations; I ought to be dead but I am a survivor, if you like."

Bob has an incredibly large family with which he enjoys spending time. Although there are twenty-five different great-grandchildren, Bob has no trouble telling them apart. He also has ten grandchildren and three of his own children.

Although Bob acknowledges that technology has changed a lot in recent years, he still thinks that people have remained the same.

Bob does appreciate how technology has improved communication and transportation. He was recently able to reconnect with a school in Taiwan where he had taught in the past.

Despite being over 100-years-old, Bob is still very autonomous. He builds items out of recycled wood in his workshop. He also visits the store to buy food and cooks his own meals. Bob received a license plate that read 'Bob 111' to commemorate his special day.

Bob isn't the only man to hold the title of "oldest man in the U.K" however; Alfred Smith, a man Perthshire shares not only the title but the exact birthdate with Bob, making him 111 years old as well.
