More than forty years ago, the world mourned the passing away of the legendary Elvis Presley. Thankfully, his fans can still enjoy his hits not just through preserved records, but through incredible duet remakes with the King. One of the most recent ones was a live performance by German singer, Helene Fischer.

Among some famous artists who have taken the challenge and honor to bring back Elvis and share the stage with him performing duets are Celine Dion, Martina McBride, Susan Boyle. Helene Fischer performed the most recent duet with Elvis on stage, this time “live.” It was spectacular!

Helen Fischer is well-known for her award-winning records in music hailing from Germany. In her home country, her recognition and significance speak for her voice.

Star-Telegram however, reveals that Fischer was born in Russia but relocated to Germany when she was still young, and well, they say, the rest is history. In Germany, Fischer is well noted for her seamless coverage in the music genre locally referred to as “schlager.” In America, the music genre schlager has often been compared to “pop music.”

Performing in duets isn’t a new experience for the German songbird, Fischer. She has teamed up before with huge names such as Ricky Martin, Andrea Bocelli, the group il Divo, Josh Groban, and Tom Jones to perform duets.

In 2016 during the Elvis’ posthumous album titled "The Wonder of You," whose venue was in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Fischer was honored to contribute to making the event a success. The album contained a bonus track titled “Just Pretend” that featured Fischer performing a special duet with the King of Pop, Elvis. The audience was fortunate to witness an unforgettable performance by Elvis and Helene Fischer, going hard on the song “Just Pretend.”

The video of the electric performance begins with Fischer standing at the center of the stage. Behind her to the side, is a huge screen. A moment of silence is followed by the large screen lighting up and its Elvis in it. Following shortly is the beat to “Just Pretend,” emanating from the background.

Fischer patiently waits for her turn as Elvis starts singing the song's first lines with his unmatched voice. Knowingly to the audience, Elvis’ performance is from a 70’s footage, but his voice and performances fill the room as if he were present on stage. Fischer and Elvis come into one harmony and sing together, each with their own unique voices that make it so unique and breathtaking. The combo sound is believed to have carried away the audience, with everyone focusing on not missing a moment of the duet.

The performance, the duet, and their voices were all magical, to say the least. Despite knowing that the artists weren’t on the same stage nor performing at the same time, nothing beats the flow of the song and the way they rhymed. One viewer full of emotions said:

“It will never get any better than this. Perfect!! I would imagine God sitting upon a cloud, thinking what a great idea it was to give humans a voice.”
