Just when you thought the news about the national anthem was always going to be controversial, Gladys Knight steps up to the mic and proves that talent and heart can win the day.

Atlanta, GA., and viewers all over the world responded to the "Empress of Soul" as she packed more emotion into each note of the anthem while she sang before Super Bowl LIII.

Originally recognized for her talent as she sang with the group Gladys Knight & The Pips in the sixties and seventies, Gladys became famous for some iconic songs of the time that still stir us today.

Now in 2019, at the beautiful and graceful age of 74, Gladys offered her heart as she sang our national anthem to a moved and respectful crowd. Wearing a stunning white dress with glimmering details around the collar, she stood in quiet dignity and brought viewers to tears as she sang the difficult notes of a moving anthem.

Flawlessly, she gave her best and America responded.

Players and stadium spectators stood and listened, their reactions slowly crossing their faces as they began to realize what they were hearing. Armed forces stationed around the world also stood at attention as she sang their anthem. Gladys proved she had staying power. She also showed that she had the power of a love for her country that all of us could relate to.

America Was Proud Again

Her voice moved her listeners. It reminded them of why this was our national anthem. It moved their hearts to remember their country, even when things feel tough at times.
