While the legal system is often cruel and unjust, every once in a while a story comes out of the courts that is bound to warm readers' hearts. Whether it's a friendly judge or an inspiring story of someone overcoming adversity, there have been dozens of uplifting cases in the past few years. Many of those cases come from the show "Caught in Providence," a nationally syndicated show where real people have their cases heard in front of Judge Frank Caprio in Providence, Rhode Island.

Caprio serves as the jurisdiction's chief municipal judge. One of the things that he has become known for over the years that he has served on the bench is the high level of kindness that he has shown so many people who have become part of the legal system. Caprio is even considered the "nicest judge in the world." Heartwarming clips from the show regularly go viral, making people around the world and across the internet smile.

Back in September 2018, a Providence resident by the name of Jose Jimenez made an appearance in Caprio's courtroom. He had a parking ticket that he had paid, but there was a late fee attached that he hadn't paid off yet.

However, when Jimenez got to Caprio's courtroom, he had something else he wanted to talk about with the judge. As it turned out, Jimenez had a bit of a bad reputation and needed someone to steer him in the right direction. The words Caprio said to him that day moved him to tears and ultimately changed the course of the rest of his life.

According to The Providence Journal, Jimenez went to visit Caprio in court back in September 2018 when he was 51 years old. He explained that he had paid off a parking ticket but not the late fee attached to it. Jimenez also wanted to share an update on his life, as Caprio had first met him when he was just 18 years old.

At the time, Jimenez's license had been suspended multiple times for traffic violations and driving under the influence, according to The Providence Journal. At the time, Caprio had told the then-teenager that he had a choice. He could be in jail, or even worse.

"Or you can be somebody," Jimenez said, recalling the important words Caprio had spoken to him more than 30 years ago. The man continued, "I said, 'I want to be somebody." Based on just how much Jimenez has changed, it's clear that he has done everything in his power to become the person he longed to be.

According to The Providence Journal, Jimenez worked hard to become a citizen in the United States and is now more careful of his driving habits as he now has a commercial driver's license. He also opened his own business: JLJ Landscaping & Construction.

Caprio ended up waiving the ticket, but Jimenez wasn't ready to leave just yet. "I just had to remind him and congratulate him for all he has done and continues to do for young adolescents," Jimenez explained. He continued, "Now I want people to see, and I want young people to think, that everybody can change."

The two men reunited for a handshake and a hug. It's not hard to see why Caprio is considered the "nicest judge in the world!"
