Emotional Dad Who Hasn't Seen His Best Friend In Seven Years Discovers He's Standing Right Behind Him

Everyone hopes that they can spend their birthday with all of their closest friends and family members. It’s a day of celebration and a day where everyone gets together to bring an immense amount of love, joy and happiness to the birthday guy or birthday gal. While birthday parties have a special place in our hearts as children, they continue to hold a soft spot in our hearts as we go through the many stages of adulthood.

It’s important for us to have as many of our loved ones attend our birthday parties to create more long-lasting memories that we can hopefully cherish for the rest of our lives. However, sometimes life gets in the way, and people aren’t able to make it. Although not everyone who was originally invited may show up to the party, the celebration usually continues on.

Randi Cross invited her dad’s best friend Ben to his 60th birthday party. All of her dad’s other friends and family members showed up ready to celebrate. Sadly, Cross’ father noticed that there was one person missing from the bunch: Ben.

Although he couldn’t be there in person, Ben still wanted to celebrate, so he sent a video filled with kind-hearted messages to Cross’ dad for the father to watch in front of all of his party guests. The dad was incredibly moved by the present, not realizing he had an even better surprise right behind him. His emotional reaction when he saw his best friend was captured on video in December 2016 and has since gone on to tug at the heartstrings of people from all over the world.

In December 2016, Cross captured a heartwarming moment from her dad’s 60th birthday party. In her YouTube video’s caption, she explained that her dad hadn’t seen Ben in 7 years, so he sat on the couch to watch a video from Ben.

Ben’s voice was heard coming from the video, saying, “Hey brother, just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Sorry we weren’t able to make it down to join in.” He went on to talk about how blessed he is to have the father as his best friend and said, “I think you’re an amazing man. I admire you and I totally respect you.”

A friendly face made an appearance in the background while the video played, unbeknownst to the dad. The father was so touched by his friend’s message that he began to tear up after the video came to an end, with his loved ones clapping and cheering in the background. 

Someone came up from behind the dad and wrapped him in a tight hug. The dad easily hugged back before finally looking up and was met with the best birthday surprise he could have ever received: Ben. “Oh, crap!” he yelled and got up to give his best friend a huge hug.

The video has gone on to be viewed more than 11 million times. The father was so moved by how many people watched and loved the video of his surprise that he left them all a kind comment. He said, “Thank you everyone for the nice comments. It was truly a surprise that I will never forget.” He continued, “It was the best birthday a dad could ever have. I am blessed beyond belief.”
