Elvis had been touring for many years, but always within the United States. His fans elsewhere were eager to see him, but the problem was, his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, was in the US illegally. As a citizen of The Netherlands, he was afraid if he ever left the US, he'd never be allowed back in. So they decided to use technology and beam the concert worldwide. His delighted fans had, in many cases, been waiting for 20 years to see him perform live.

During the show, Elvis performed amazingly. He was only 38 at the time, and his voice and dance moves were under full control and executed flawlessly. Most of the songs he sang were his trademark songs, but he also performed a cover of Frank Sinatra's "My Way," a song he had occasionally been covering in his concerts since 1972.

Elvis continued to tour for four more years. Still, sadly, his performances began to deteriorate during this period due to his worsening health.

After Elvis' death, a recording of him singing "My Way" was released and hit #22 on the Billboards' Hot 100 pop single. This ranking was higher than Frank Sinatra's recording of his song.
