Elton John Phones 6-Year-Old Girl Suffering Heart Condition

Random acts of kindness make the world a better place, no matter how small. Celebrity Elton John shows just how far these small acts can go when he makes this little girl's day.

Carley is a joyful 6-year-old from Sutherlin who has a potentially fatal heart condition. She does not let this stop her in her goal to live her best life, and one of her desires is to attain an autograph of her favorite singer, Elton John. After her mother created an online campaign, Carley received a response from the celebrity less than 24 hours afterward.

Carley Roman is a 6-year-old, fun-loving, joyful little girl who enjoys spending her time playing soccer, with her family, and with her beloved pet dog. At first glance, Carley seems like any other child: playful, enthusiastic, and energetic, but behind this front of normality is a severe condition that threatens Carley's life.

Carley was diagnosed with Brugada Syndrome, a heart condition in which the heart undergoes abnormal rhythms during rest. These irregular heartbeats could lead to death.

According to KPIC, Carley's condition was discovered when she complained of chest pain at a young age. Realizing that this was not normal for a child so young, her parents took her to the hospital where she underwent an EKG. Her condition was then diagnosed.

Carley finds joy in many things that keep her preoccupied. Acknowledging Carley's love for songs by Elton John, her mother began an online campaign to catch Elton John's attention, hoping to gain an autograph for Carley.

Less than a full 24 hours afterward, she received a response from the esteemed singer. Elton John took the time to reach out and call young Carley who was very excited to hear from her favorite singer. When asked about her fascination with Elton John, Carley states, "The first song that I ever heard was 'Rocket Man,' so I really liked it."

On Thursday morning when Carley received the phone call, her mother updated us all on her Facebook page:

"Elton called us this morning!!! Im speechless. He said Carleys story touched him and that he will definitely be getting an autograph to her! I cannot thank everyone enough! Carleys dream has come true. I had to wake her up to talk with Elton. She immediately went into shock. She was shy and said afterwards that there was so much more she wanted to say. But she is absolutely ecstatic. I cannot thank everyone enough for sharing her story and getting word to Elton."

"She would always tell me how cool it would be to see Elton John in real life, but she understood I probably couldn't afford that," Carley's mother stated, "so I told her I would try to get his autograph for [her]."

Carley is being monitored daily due to her condition and her pet will soon be trained as a cardiac alert dog. Carley's family is extremely thankful for the support given by everyone.
