Elton's list of honors is long and prestigious. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. In 1992, he was honored with a spot in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Elton has also won two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, four Grammy Awards, one Tony Award, two Golden Globes, and much more. One of his biggest honors was being awarded the knighthood in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II.

Because of his restrictive childhood, Elton said he began to gravitate toward flamboyant costumes to express his personality. No one would argue that the man does not have a larger than life stage presence.
