Ellen DeGeneres Surprises Newly Engaged Same-Sex Couple On Her Show After Their Parents Refuse To Go To Their Wedding

Last week, Ellen Degeneres gave a newly-engaged couple the surprise of their lives.

Degeneres, 61, came across a tweet Kate Austin posted about her engagement to Sarah, in which she tagged the TV host and Chrissy Teigen. The post, which featured photos of the happy couples engagement in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, shared that Kate's parents did not want to attend their wedding due to their dissaproval of their daughter's sexual orientation.

Sarah Sulsenti was living out every little girl's dream when her now-fiancee Kate Austin proposed to her in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

However, what should have been a joyous occasion for the two lovebirds quickly turned into a nightmare. Kate's parents disapproved of their daughter's same-sex partnering and told the couple that they would not be in attendance at the wedding.

Kate decided to take her happiness into her own hands. She Tweeted out her engagement photos, along with a description of her sad situation. She decided to tag Chrissy Teigan and Ellen DeGeneres in the post, hoping that one of the compassionate stars might come to her and her fiancee's rescue.

Thankfully, Ellen took notice. She invited Sarah and Kate to be guests on her show. Kate had originally asked Ellen if she would take the role of her father and walk her down the aisle on her big day. Unfortunately, Ellen couldn't make time in her schedule, but she offered the duo something even better.

After a funny bit where Ellen presented a cardboard cutout of herself that also served as a tissue holder, she surprised Kate and Sarah by revealing their friends and family members who more than approved of their upcoming nuptials.

Ellen wanted to show the two that just because Kate's parents had turned their backs on them, it didn't mean that the pair weren't deeply loved. As if we couldn't have been crying any harder, Sarah decided to get down on her knee in front of Kate for a second proposal, reaffirming her commitment to her soon-to-be wife.

"Everybody deserves love," Ellen reminded her audience, with tears in her eyes. "[It's] the most important thing [and it's] all that matters in this life."

We're deeply touched by Ellen's compassion. Show this story to anyone who you think might need a reminder that love and hope are real.
