Ellen shared a story with her audience on her show which is currently in its 17th season about a meeting she had with the pair over the summer. She began by saying, "Here's a sentence I never thought I would say, but I spent the afternoon with Prince Harry and Meghan..."

The comedian divulged that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, took a trip to London recently and were able to spend an afternoon with Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.

During the visit, Ellen had the pleasure of also meeting 4-month-old baby Archie, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She even got to hold him and feed him. Ellen and Portia had the chance to discuss wildlife conservation, a cause that both couples are passionate about.

Ellen and her wife are well-known for their efforts to save the gorillas in Rwanda, while the royal couple has spent much of their time working on conservation efforts in Botswana, making it their mission to save endangered elephants.

The Duke and Duchess are even preparing to leave for a royal tour of Africa in the next weeks where they will further their conservation efforts.

With so much good being done by the royal couple, Ellen felt it was necessary to defend them against recent criticism they've received regarding their use of private jets. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry came under fire recently for the private jets they took to Nice, France, and Ibiza for Meghan’s 38th birthday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been vocal about their stance on global warming and campaigning for issues around climate change. Many, however, are criticizing the royal couple and labeling them as "hypocrites" for using planes to jet around for Meghan’s extravagant birthday holiday in August.

Ellen described her friends as compassionate and down-to-earth, reiterating her stance that the royal couple is completely undeserving of the criticism against them. She even defended them on Twitter in August, writing,

"Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you're trying to do is make the world better."

Ellen continued with her praises of the royal couple and talked about their newborn son. Ellen revealing that he now ways 15 lbs and looks just like his dad, Prince Harry. It seems the relationship between the two couples will only get stronger going forward, as they have plans to combine their wildlife conservation efforts into one major project.
