Elderly Woman Sits At Piano In Thrift Shop And Plays Music That Will Knock Your Socks Off

Seeing a piano sitting out in the open is like an invitation- you just have to hit the keys for a minute. No matter how well you can play, or even if you can’t, a piano just beckons to you.

Sometimes, a piano is placed in order to bring interest to a local attraction; for example, a piano outside of an art installation. Other times, a piano ends up in a cast-off area, such as a thrift shop.

While some people may be able to create a basic song on the piano, such as “Joy to the World” or something similar, it is quite rare to actually see and hear a real artist sit down and play.

When people actually stop and watch, it often means that the stranger is really good at what he or she is doing on the piano. They want to see just who is making this beautiful music.

The people who stopped to listen to this woman did so because she was very, very good.

Fren Bezanson is 84-years-old. She is from Wallaceburg, Ontario, and is still full of surprises, even at her age. When she came across the old piano in a thrift shop, she decided to sit down and play a song. She played as though she had extensive lessons when in fact, she hasn’t.

Fren said that she cannot read music, according to a report from The London Free Press. She said that everything she plays is done by ear only. The elderly lady remarked that she can’t explain how she does it. She says that even when she was a young child, she was able to hear a song and basically play it on the piano.

Not only can she play the piano well, she can also play the accordion.

She has always made sure that music was a part of her life. She was part of a band known as “The Joymakers” with her late husband. She says that making joy was just what they did. When she saw the piano sitting in the shop, Fren said she was irresistibly drawn to it. She remarked that she will always go up to a piano and try it out.

Fren still performs music for others on a regular basis. She enjoys bringing music and joy to nursing home staff and patients, as well as hospital staff and patients. She even loved giving an impromptu performance at this thrift store.

Shopper Michelle Mainwaring was able to catch this endearing moment on her phone. She tweeted the video with the caption, “Enjoy this goodness!” We are so happy she was able to get it all on camera!
