BASE jumping is a dangerous activity that is starting to grow in popularity as more and more people jump from structures such as bridges, towers, and tall buildings. One of the latter types was the site of an incredible BASE-jumping rescue, thanks to the “nicest lady ever,” an elderly woman who likely never expected to see a man dangling off the side of her building. However, she instinctually knew what to do to help and even offered him a glass of water before he went on his way.

Kody Koslowski, a Michigan man who was visiting Acapulco, Mexico, had jumped from a tall building in that resort town and started to glide down as expected. However, it suddenly went all wrong for him. He had misjudged his jump and was soon veering right towards a set of apartments. Next thing he knew, he was hanging precariously on the side of one of them.

However, a Spanish-speaking woman appeared on the balcony of her apartment, which was just below where Kody was. At around that time, Cody attempted to reach the balcony that he was next to, which was above hers, but he just couldn’t make it there. That’s when the woman reached her arms out and beckoned for him to come to her. He carefully reset his goal and aimed for her place instead and successfully navigated the short but treacherous distance and was soon safely on her balcony. Thankful that he was safe, it was still a sight for him and her to see all of his equipment hanging off of the side of that building.

After he politely declined her offer of water, he headed off, so thankful that what could have been a truly horrible scene resulted instead with a small scratch on one of his knees and no other physical damage.

He and others who had seen the video of what had happened were so thankful for her help, one of the commenters even saying, “Nicest lady ever. Like crashing into your grandmother’s house.” Another added, “Wow! That was scary! It was so sweet when the lady held her arms up and said, ‘I save you.’”
