BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker had recently interviewed Terrence in Oldham, England, and the two had discussed how he had spent the last 20 Christmases alone.

As a result, Dan decided to surprise him with a Christmas tree and carolers in a moment that caused tears to flow throughout the country. Viewers tweeted comments such as "This broke me this morning" and "I'm in bits. That's just beautiful."

Terrence used to spend Christmas with his mother, bringing her presents and dinner. She would often tell him that she wouldn't have gotten any presents or had any visitors if it weren't for him, reports Bristol Live. "I often think about that now," he said during the interview with the BBC. Those moments resonated with him and, sadly, ended up occurring to him too as he then spent two decades worth of Christmases alone.

Fortunately, he won't be alone this Christmas as he will spend it with a friend, Nancy, who he met thanks to Age UK, a British charity that focuses on helping society's elderly. But Dan wanted to ensure that his Christmas season this year was especially memorable, which is why he arranged for further interactions, reports the Express.

Initially, Dan said, "Terrence, can I please introduce to you these lovely people who've come to see you from Oldham College? They've got an early Christmas present for you, Terrence." At that time, a number of them came in and shook his hand with one of them bringing in a small Christmas tree. One of the visitors told him that they were there to be with him and that they had brought him a Christmas tree "to brighten [his] Christmas."

Terrence was crying throughout these moments with Dan often asking him, "Are you okay, Terrence?" He later said, between sobs, "Thank you. Thank you so much."

After Dan told him to come to his front door, Terrence said, "Oh, dear," as he made his way there. That was where the carolers from Oldham College started singing, "Silent Night," sparking even more tears from Terrence, who continued to cry throughout the rendition – understandable as "Silent Night" is his favorite Christmas song.

Christmas is one of the most emotional times of the year. Although it is full of joy for many as they spend time with family and other loved ones, it is full of pain for others, who often spend this holiday alone. Do you know of anybody who spends this holiday alone?
