Even animals love Christmas! Christmas is a time to celebrate with loved ones while enjoying all the festivities and decorations. Many families even add new members to their families during the holidays. Some animals see Christmas as their opportunity to find their forever home. Unfortunately, some dogs are not so lucky.

Many animals get abandoned just when they need the most love. Peanut was one such pup that found herself in an unfortunate predicament. She was abandoned after Thanksgiving, and as a senior dog, adoption was a harder task. The fourteen-year-old dog was confused when she first went to the shelter.

When Peanut arrived at the animal shelter, she started acting depressed. She looked around and all hope was leaving her aging body. Dallas Animal Services even received a request to put poor Peanut down. When she arrived, she was emaciated, and it was painful for her to walk. She only had two teeth, and she was infested with worms.

Things were not looking good for Peanut. Many senior dogs that are left at the shelter do not receive much adoption interest. People want to take a puppy home that they can spend years and years with. Not to mention, people want a healthy dog. Senior dogs have trouble getting adopted because they often come with a slew of health problems. The task of getting poor Peanut adopted was almost impossible. It’s no wonder the loving dog started to lose hope.

Luckily, the people at the shelter loved Peanut as she deserved to be loved, regardless of her health issues. The group of animal lovers helped Peanut’s case go viral on social media. People all over the country rallied around this loving senior dog. They wanted to make sure this dog had at least one more Christmas surrounded by people who loved her. A miracle happened faster than anyone could expect!

Peanut was able to get adopted before the holidays to spend time with people who could love her as she deserved. Tommy Bull worked a miracle when he adopted his new best friend.

When Tommy saw poor Peanut, he realized he didn’t have a choice. He hugged her tightly when he picked her up at the shelter so she knew she was in loving hands that would protect her the rest of her life.
