An older couple in their mid-90's has recently celebrated a milestone in their marriage. The couple returned to the same church where they had gotten married 75 years ago to renew their vows.
Jim Richardson and Irene Richardson, who are 95-years-old and 94-years-old respectively, are from Lancashire, England. In the middle of the second World War, this beloved couple tied the knot on April 12 of 1994. Jim was 20, and Irene was 19. The couple worked as farmers for a majority of their lives.
They have since retired and are currently hold the title for the longest-married couple in Lancashire.
Jim has admitted that his one regret in life was not thanking his mother during the groom's speech for the original wedding ceremony. Although this event took place seven decades in the past, Jim still feels the weight of regret. Sandra Taylor, the couple's granddaughter, planned the vow renewal for Jim and Irene to give her grandfather a chance to thank his mother.

The wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place at the exact same time as the original. Jim and Irene sat and stood in the same spots as the first time that the couple had exchanged vows. Sandra was more than pleased with the entire ceremony. Photographs were taken of the couple exiting the church.
The tearjerking ceremony was held at St. Michael's Church in their hometown of Lancashire. The couple was joined by generations of friends and family. The couple's four children were there along with the couple's eight grandchildren. Nine great-grandchildren were even present at the ceremony. As a testament to the couple's love and longevity, a great-great-grandchild even attended the vow renewal ceremony.
Jim was able to make a special tribute to his late mother during the ceremony in order to rectify his regret. Sandra had personally asked for the prayers to include a special tribute to Jim's mother for all that she had done for her beloved son. Jim was also able to achieve his dream of exiting the church to the wedding march.
Irene was able to be serenaded with the famous tune All Things Bright and Beautiful.
The couple was elated after the ceremony. Jim praised each member of his family. Irene made a toast with champagne during the ceremony. She talked about how the couple had supported each other during tough times. She also mentioned that their life so far has been a lovely one.
