The Swn-y-Mor Care Centre that is located in Port Talbot, Wales had originally rented the deBug chairs for about a week last year. They then decided to raise the money to buy a pair of wheelchairs for themselves.

People who saw the pictures on Facebook were touched by the sheer joy that was shown on the patient's faces. They called their smiling facing ‘priceless.’ You could clearly see they were having a blast. Everyone involved was praised for making this amazing experience happen. It was an amazing thing for the Swn-y-Mor Care Centre to do and it was appreciated by many people across the world.

Sharon Williams, who manages the care home spoke to Metro about the ordeal:

"They just absolutely love them," she said. "Just to be able to put their toes back in the water and feel the water on their feet.’

The elderly residents were joined by Joe Gage, 23, a Osprey’s Rugby club volunteer. He pushed them across the beach and up against the surf. He had brought them to the beach to enjoy the water. With the help of the specialized wheelchairs, they were able to get their chairs into the water.

Along with the photos he posted on social media, the care home stated, “Busy day, more of our ladies and gents out on the beach wheelchairs with the help of Joe Gage, and then straight after games in the garden with employees of Tata steel and Joe.”

Everyone was extremely grateful for the work the volunteers did. All the residents are looking forward to the next visit to the beach. Muriel, another resident, was seen in the photos staying comfortable with a warm blanket on her lap. Joe was pushing her in a wheelchair along the beach.

Lilian was accompanied by her granddaughter, Sophie. She happened to be walking by the beach at that time. Sharon Williams, the care home manager told Metro that the residents love to be able to rest their feet back in the water. They love the feel of the water and they love going to the beach.

The home has also had many questions from all over the world. Everyone wants to know where they got the wheelchairs. There are many places all over the world who want to use them as the Swn-y-Mor Care Centre did.
