At the Global Citizen Festival in New York on September 26th, a unique duo got together on stage to sing a Bob Marley classic: 'Redemption Song.' The unlikely pair were famous singers Eddie Vedder, former lyricist of the band Pearl Jam and pop icon Beyoncé. The two did an acoustic cover of the song that honored Bob Marley in the best way.

While many people would never consider putting Beyoncé on stage with Eddie Vedder, the two went together well as their voices combined in harmony and delivered Bob Marley's powerful 'Redemption Song' lyrics. Eddie Vedder started with the first verse and then Beyoncé joined in. Eventually, the two sang the chorus together in harmony.

Although Bob Marley has already passed, neither he nor his music has been forgotten. It seems unusual to put two such distinct singers together on such a classic track, but the two pulled it off without overpowering each other. The crowd gave out an excited roar as the pair began to sing, and as they went on, the cover got even more interesting.

During the instrumental break in the song, a video of Gandhi giving a speech was played. Gandhi's voice punctuated the music with a message as powerful as Marley's. The performance was certainly a unique cover worth watching in the video below.
