Ed Sheeran Faced Health Scare That He ‘Wouldn’t Recommend’ To Anyone

Change does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes it shows up in small, visible ways that hint at something deeper going on beneath the surface. That is exactly how Ed Sheeran chose to share his latest update with fans.
In an Instagram post published on April 28, 2026, the singer revealed that he had shaved his head, calling it a symbol of a fresh start rather than just a style choice. “I wanted to shave it to signify a fresh start,” he wrote, adding that there are “a lot of new beginnings” happening in his life right now. While he did not spell everything out, the message felt intentional, like a quiet reset after a period that clearly meant something to him. For longtime followers, that kind of openness is nothing new. Sheeran has often marked personal shifts through subtle changes, and this moment felt like another chapter turning.
At the same time, he was preparing to return to the stage as his Loop Tour resumes, with upcoming shows scheduled across Latin America after a short break. “Restarting the loop tour in a week and a bit, can’t wait to get back cracking on that,” he shared, signaling a return to routine and the part of his life that has always grounded him.
But behind the scenes, the past year had carried more weight than fans saw on stage, shaping how he would approach both his work and his life moving forward.

While Sheeran’s social media post focused on new beginnings, his past had also included moments that required a different kind of strength. In an interview, he spoke about his wife Cherry Seaborn’s health, revealing that she underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor during a particularly delicate time, as she was pregnant with their second child.
“She’s fine, she had the operation,” he said, explaining that the procedure happened after their daughter was born, bringing a sense of relief after a period of uncertainty.
As he prepared to return to touring and settle into a new chapter, it was clear that those experiences had shaped his perspective in ways he was still processing.
His decision to shave his head feels tied to that shift, not just as a physical change but as a reflection of everything happening behind the scenes. Around the same time, he also shared that he had been dealing with a health issue of his own – shingles.
According to the Mayo Clinic, shingles is a viral infection caused by the same virus that leads to chickenpox, often appearing later in life as a painful rash and more commonly affecting people over 50, though it can occur at any age.
It added that “after you’ve had chickenpox, the virus stays in your body for the rest of your life. Years later, the virus may reactivate as shingles.’
For Sheeran, the experience was recent and clearly uncomfortable, even if he chose to talk about it lightly. And in the middle of everything he has been navigating, he summed it up in the simplest way possible.
“I’ve had shingles for the last month, wouldn’t recommend it, but on the mend now.”
