Dying Mom Battling Cancer Got Last Wish Granted: One More Family Sleepover
Apr 24, 2019 by apost team
The war against cancer is the most important conflict in human history. Among the most aggressive diseases known to medical science, cancer chooses its victims indiscriminately.
The disease doesn’t care about age, gender, or ethnicity; all it does is invade the body of its victim and devastate families.
While doctors make breakthroughs in treatment on a daily basis, very often, it is too late for some patients. In this case, the compassion of others makes all the difference in the world, giving terminal patients the opportunity to enjoy their last moments.
Entities such as the American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and just everyday people pitch-in to help those facing a terminal diagnosis enjoy their remaining time with family and friends. Such is the story of one mom from Lancaster, New York.

Ryan Kania was 33-years old when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer back in September.
A tough fighter, Ryan even suffered a minor stroke when chemotherapy caused blood clots to develop in her heart, lungs, and legs.
As Christmas time neared, Ryan and her family were devastated by news from Ryan’s oncologist: the cancer was too aggressive and there were no further treatment options. Despite the terminal diagnosis, Ryan remained the rock of her family until the very end, comforting her husband Brian by telling him that everything will be alright. Understandably, Ryan’s family wanted her to enjoy her remaining moments, looking for anything that will make Ryan as happy as possible.
For herself, Ryan only wanted one thing: a sleepover in a penthouse with 14 of her closest friends and family members.
Ryan’s sister, Ami Jiang, sought out help in making Ryan’s dream a reality. Speaking with the online blog Hope Rises News, Ami hoped that someone would be able to help Ryan achieve her last wish.
"A sleepover with my fourteen closest family and friends...the PENTHOUSE suite," she said. "Time to play games, spend an entire night together and make lasting memories."
Ami’s plea did not fall on deaf ears. As news of Ryan’s plight spread around the Buffalo area, one caring philanthropist decided he wanted to help the stricken mom. Russel J. Salvatore is a restaurateur and the owner of Salvatore’s Grand Hotel in Buffalo, New York. Offering Ryan and her friends access to the hotel’s best room, Russel also provided Ryan and her guests with a horse and carriage ride around the hotel to see the building’s fantastic Christmas decorations
Ryan was deeply moved by Russel’s kindness, expressing her appreciation for the act of generosity.
“I can’t believe Mr.Salvatore is opening his hotel to us and allowing me to have the sleepover of my dreams,” she told WGRZ back in December.
Her mother also expressed her gratitude, saying:
“What started as small sleepover is now going to be a wonderful family memory for all of us.”
Ryan Kania sadly passed away on Febrary 18th 2019 at the age of 33 in her home in Cheektowaga.
Ryan is survived by her husband Brian Kania, her son Mason, her sisters Amy and Julie Erdhart and parents Laurie and Gary Erdhart.
A fundraiser on GoFundMe, which was previously set up by her sister Ami to help with the medical bills has now, according to The Buffalo News, been dedicated to funding her son Mason's education.
